Chapter 49 

The phone buzzed, cutting through her thoughts. Niamh quickly shook off the cold, hopeless 

memory. 

It was Quinn calling. She swiped to answer it. “Sorry, I’m at the hospital.” 

“It’s okay, I already know,” Quinn said, surprising Niamh. She hadn’t expected Quinn to be aware of that. As expected from Simon’s people, those who were trained were always meticulous and sharp. 

Before Niamh could respond, Quinn continued, “Is it serious? Do you need me to come over?” 

“No need. I’ll come find you soon,” Niamh replied. 

“No, focus on recovering. I’ll handle things here,” Quinn said. 

“I’m not in pain anymore,” Niamh said stubbornly. 

Since Simon had pointed out her shortcomings over the years, she needed to get back on her feet as quickly as possible. Otherwise, it would be a waste of Quinn’s assistance. 

Niamh knew that with Quinn now in Greenburg, she would be the one paying her salary, and she understood how valuable Quinn’s time was. She quickly got up and got dressed. 

As she was heading out, she ran into Castiel coming in. 

“Where are you going?” Castiel asked coldly. The doctor had just left, and now it seemed she was trying to leave too. 

“I need to talk to you,” Castiel said, and he forcefully pushed her back into the ward without waiting for her to respond. 

Pulled back into the room, Niamh shot a cold look at Castiel. “Speak,” she said, sitting on the edge. of the bed. 

Castiel pulled over a stool and sat across from her As he looked at Niamh, he hesitated to speak. His eyes revealed his inner struggle. 

Niamh noticed his unusual behavior, and her heart grew cold. She had a pretty good idea of what Castiel was about to say. 

Standing up from the bed, she said, “If you don’t want to say it, I’ll leave. 

“There’s a surgery…” Castiel said urgently from behind her. 

Niamh’s body flinched, betraying her emotions. She turned, her eyes filled with the long–held hatred she had harbored. 

In the end, he did say it after all. Even though this time was different from her previous life, with his eyes showing a noticeable struggle, the outcome still tipped in Macy’s favor. 

Niamh took a deep breath and asked, “What kind of surgery?” 

Castiel stood up and walked over to her. He looked down at Niamh, the woman who had always been under his care since they first met. He had taken care of her then, and he still did now.

“Macy needs eye surgery now,” he said. “Niamh, you owe her this. You need to make it right!” 

Although the words were the same and the tone was different, the result was still the same for Niamh.
