Burned Once, Never Again (Niamh and Castiel) novel Chapter 67

Chapter 67

That was crazy. There must be a lunatic in Greenburg

After Lucian left, Castiel was left alone in the office. He lit a cigarette and took a couple of deep drags. Amid the smoke, his expression looked increasingly troubled, and his eyes were colder than usual

Before her shift began in the morning, Niamh waited at the entrance of Leopardbite Intl. with a draft from a long night of overtime

She was already chilled to the bone when the receptionist, Tracy Hale, saw her. Given their previous meeting and Nathan’s polite demeanor, Tracy quickly let Niamh in and offered her a cup of hot milk. Have some milk to warm yourself.”

Thank you.Niamh was indeed very cold

Quinn had given her a ride, but since she had something urgent to handle that morning, she drove away right after dropping off Niamh. It hadn’t been long, but Niamh’s delicate build made her shiver after just half an

hour in the cold

However, since she’d been with Castiel, she hadn’t paid much attention to the seasons. In the past, there was always air conditioning when it was hot and heating when it was cold, so she had no idea that Greenburg’s winters could be this bitter. It seemed she’d need to dress warmer in the

future

You didn’t need to come this early. Mr. Field normally comes in about an hour after the office opens. He usually gets here by nine and sometimes even later,Tracy said

Niamh was sipping her milk and choked on it after hearing that

Tracy quickly passed her a tissue and asked, Are you okay?”

I’m fine,Niamh replied

In her understanding, people in charge of a whole company were usually very busy. Take Castiel, for instance. He never left the house later than 8: 00 am. Although she enjoyed a pampered life as his wife, she always had to wake up early for breakfast with him

Hearing that Blake started work at nine or even later, she thought his wife must be very lucky. She was truly envious. She couldn’t help but sigh that all the good men belonged to someone else

Niamh originally thought she’d have to wait another hour, but Blake arrived at the company at half past eight

When Tracy saw Blake, she instantly stood up and greeted, Good morning, Mr. Field.”

Ms. Weaver, what brings you here?Nathan, who was following Blake, greeted Niamh warmly

Niamh stood up, and she felt her breathing grow tense

At that moment, Blake happened to look in her direction. His gaze was icy

and serious

Meeting his gaze, Niamh found herself unable to speak the words she had in mind. In fact, being with such a man might not necessarily mean happiness. He was so serious that it was hard to imagine what he looked like when he smiled

Ms. Weaver. Ms. WeaverTracy called out

What?Niamh snapped back to reality and saw Tracy looking at her with

concern

Tracy thought that Blake must be the type of man admired by all women. Not only was everyone in the company fixated on him, but even those outside seemed captivated. Mr. Wadlow is asking you a question, she said

Well, we prepared a draft last night and need Mr. Field to review it to
