Burned Once, Never Again (Niamh and Castiel) novel Chapter 90

Chapter 90

The way she smoked was incredibly alluring. Even though she didn’t look tough because of her small stature, she had a captivating charm that was entirely her own

Before him, she had always been the epitome of grace and propriety, far removed from the vices of smoking or drinking. But now, with a cigarette between her fingers and a melancholic look in her eyes, she seemed like a completely different person

Despite the loneliness that enveloped her, there was also a strong hint of disdain. Don’t you think it’s rather fitting?”

Niamh”

Who was that woman?she asked with a smile, her indifference cutting right through Castiel

Niamh continued, She’s obviously an heiress of a wealthy family, and she’d look perfect with you! I have to say, your mother does have a good eye for these things, doesn’t she?”

Niamh Weaver!Castiel lost it. He was so furious that his features

were contorted

Niamh, on the other hand, remained unperturbed. She took a deep breath before asking, Do you think that woman would give up her corneas just to be married to you?”

The man sitting across from her was momentarily taken aback, his breath hitching in his throat. What’s that supposed to mean?”

Isn’t that how you’ve always seen me? I’m just a backgroundless woman, here for your family to chew up and spit out!Her voice turned cold and devoid of its earlier mockery

Castiel gazed at Niamh. He’d been hesitant to bring up the corneal

transplant because of her attitude. He was surprised she would bring it up herself

I told you it was just for a while. I never asked you to give it up!he responded defensively

So, she was supposed to give her corneas to Macy and lose her sight for a while? For a whilehe sure made it sound like a simple solution

Niamh stubbed out her cigarette in the ashtray, rose from her seat, and gave him one last look before walking away

Where are you going?Castiel demanded

Niamh stopped in her tracks and glanced back over her shoulder; a mocking smile played on her lips. For a while, huh? That’s a good

one

Would you have the nerve to tell that woman from earlier that you’d make her your wife, but only if she’s okay with losing her sight for a while so you can go save another woman?”

In Niamh’s eyes, Castiel was no different from the other Jamisons at that moment. All of them were taking advantage of her because she had no prominent background

Castiel was so enraged that the veins on his forehead bulged. He was at a loss for words, and all he could feel was his temples throbbing

Niamh couldn’t help but find his reaction amusing. Without sparing. him another glance, she left

Niamh left, leaving Castiel alone in the enormous villa. In a fit of rage, he kicked the couch across the room and ran a hand through his hair
