Chapter 0201
Sunlight filtered through the curtains, casting a warm glow across Dylan’s sleeping face.
“Mmm…”
He squinted, raising a hand to shield his eyes. Suddenly, flashes of last night flooded his mind.
Suzy had come to him. She’d said she forgave him, and then the two of them…
His eyes flew open, and he turned quickly to his side.
When he saw the bare, porcelain–like skin of a woman’s back facing him, a rush of joy surged through his chest. It hadn’t been an alcohol–fueled hallucination after all–Suzy had really come back, and she’d truly forgiven him!
But as he was basking in the moment, the woman turned her head and greeted him with a gentle smile. “Good morning, Mr. Dylan.”
Seeing Anne’s face staring back at him, Dylan froze, struck as if by lightning. “Why… why is it you?”
He distinctly remembered it being Suzy, so how…
“Don’t you remember, Mr. Dylan?” Anne asked, her expression tinged with hurt. “I called you last night, but you didn’t pick up. I was worried, so I came to check on you. As soon as I walked in, you pulled me close and asked if I’d… if I’d be yours.”
“Shut up!” Dylan’s hand shot out, grasping her throat. “I’m going to ask you one last time, and you’d better answer honestly. Did anything happen between us last night?”
“Mr. Dylan…” Anne managed to choke out, struggling under his grip. “Don’t worry. If you don’t want to take responsibility, I won’t cling to you. Just like three years ago, we can pretend nothing happened.”
So, they really slept together…
If Suzy found out…
The thought of Suzy brought a wave of panic crashing over him, and his gaze toward Anne grew dark and menacing. Only the two of them knew about this night. If Anne were gone, then Suzy would never have to find out.
With that thought, his grip on her throat tightened.
As the air grew thinner, Anne’s breaths became labored, her vision darkening. She wanted. to plead, but no sound would come out.
No… she couldn’t die here like this!

Anne beat against Dylan’s arm with all her strength, but no matter how hard she struggled, his grip remained firm, unyielding.
At that moment, regret flooded through her. If she’d known it would come to this, she never would have come last night. She thought she’d have a chance to change his perception of her, but it turned out she’d only come to face death.
