Chapter 0227
The hallway outside was already filled with thick smoke, the acrid scent choking the air. For most people, it would have been impossible to walk through without coughing or collapsing.
Suzy moved through the thick smoke as if it didn’t bother her at all. Her expression stayed calm and composed, even though she could feel the faint trace of poison lingering in the Sair.
“Let’s see who’s so eager to take my life.”
The presence of poison in the smoke only confirmed the killer’s determination.
Holding her breath, Suzy strode with measured precision toward the banquet hall.
What should have been a lively event filled with clinking glasses and chatter was now eerily deserted. The guests had all fled, leaving the hall empty.
She felt a sense of relief knowing that, at least, no innocent lives had been caught up in the chaos.
Heading for the main exit, Suzy had only taken a few steps when a massive wooden beam suddenly came crashing down from above.
The sound alerted her, and she quickly stepped back just in time to avoid it. But before she could move further, another beam came hurtling straight toward where she had retreated.
Only her speed saved her from being crushed. The close timing of both attacks left no doubt in her mind–this wasn’t an accident.
The first could have been a coincidence, but two in quick succession? Someone was up there.
Her sharp gaze scanned upward, though the smoke obscured her view. Still, she was certain there was someone hiding above.
Out of the corner of her eye, she spotted a hanging advertisement banner stretching down from the second floor. Grabbing hold of it, she swung upward with an effortless grace that resembled a dancer in mid–performance. In moments, she was on the second floor.
And there he was.
The man froze for a second before tossing aside the beam in his hands and bolting.
“Ha!” Suzy’s laugh was cold, dark, and filled with menace–a sound straight out of hell. “ Where do you think you’re going?”
Despite the lingering effects of the poison, her speed and agility remained unmatched. In mere moments, she caught up to him, her hand clamping around his neck as she slammed

him against the wall.
“If you want to live,” she said, her voice low and lethal, “you know what I want.”
The man smirked even as his face twisted in pain. “You’re barely holding yourself together. How do you still have the guts to threaten me?”
Suzy narrowed her eyes. “Is that so?”
Her grip tightened, inch by inch, cutting off his air. His expression grew darker, his struggles more desperate, but his defiance didn’t waver.
Suzy wasn’t in a rush–she had plenty of ways to deal with him unless he truly wasn’t
afraid of death.
Finally, the man couldn’t take it anymore. His defiance crumbled, and his eyes silently pleaded for mercy.
Only then did Suzy release her grip. “Talk!”
“I–it was…”
Before he could finish, his body suddenly convulsed. Foam bubbled from his mouth, and within seconds, he collapsed like a lifeless rag doll. In mere moments, his breathing stopped entirely.
The instant his life slipped away, flames erupted along the hallway, consuming everything in their path.
The floor had been doused in gasoline.
The earlier stunt with the wooden beams had been nothing but bait to lure her upstairs.
Watching the fire surge toward her, Suzy’s eyes blazed with fury.
Without hesitation, she vaulted from the second floor, leaping into the open space below.
A barrage of arrows came at her from all directions while she was still in midair.
