Chapter 0346
She might be overthinking–after all, no one would risk their life by harming themselves.
His wound refused to heal, and leaving now would be ungrateful, so she had no choice but to stay and help treat his injury.
After several more treatments, the wound began to improve, but his condition worsened. He grew so weak he couldn’t even lift himself from the bed. Eating, drinking, and the most basic tasks now depended entirely on Suzy’s care.
“Junior, I want some water!”
“Junior, I’m a little hungry!”
“Junior, I need to use the restroom!”
“Junior, I want to take a bath!”
He called out to her hundreds of times a day. Suzy would get a headache just seeing him open his mouth, but she couldn’t show any dissatisfaction. Otherwise, he’d sulk like a pitiful child.
“I don’t want to trouble you either, but I can’t get out of bed. If I could, I’d handle it myself. After all, your leg hasn’t fully recovered either…”
Then he’d let out a couple of weak coughs. “If you really don’t want to take care of me, just go back. I’ll manage on my own. At worst, I’ll just die. It’s not like anyone cares–I’m all alone
anyway. Even if I died, no one would blame you for leaving me behind.”
Suzy was speechless.
His breathing was chaotic, so his weakness wasn’t an act. This might have been caused by a reaction to some kind of drug.
She thought he’d recover in a few days, but as time passed, he didn’t improve and got
worse.
Eventually, he was lying in bed, completely feeble, barely clinging to life.
The situation was clearly abnormal. Suzy tried hard to figure out the cause. Finally, one night, she discovered something unusual.
Late at night, after working on a new medication, Suzy had just gotten into bed when she heard a noise from the next room. Worried something might have happened to Hawk, whose condition was precarious, she rushed over to check.
What she saw in the bathroom shocked her.
There he was, soaking in the bathtub!

His face was pale as a sheet, and his lips were an alarming shade of purple. He looked particularly unwell.
“You’ve been deliberately sabotaging your own recovery!”
Suzy stood there, her expression and tone indifferent as she looked at Hawk soaking himself in the bathtub.
She had suspected something was off with his condition but couldn’t pinpoint the reason. Now it turned out this was what he had been doing.
Hawk, knowing she would eventually discover the truth, didn’t bother denying it. “Yes, I did this! Because only then would you stay a few extra days.”
