He quickly added, “Riley can go with you. I’ll stay here and guard the entrance.” 

Riley caught the concern in Allen’s voice, and though it unsettled her, she had to admit the plan made sense. 

“Boss, don’t think we don’t know what’s on your mind. You’re worried there’s an ambush inside, just like last time, and you don’t want us taking the risk. That’s why you’re trying to go in alone.” 

“We’re not going to keep saying this,” Riley said firmly. “You’re our leader. You can’t expect us to stick with you through the good times but step aside when things get tough. If
