Chapter 0041
Suzy returned to Hillside Villa, expecting Allen to scold her, but all he said was, “Your tolerance for alcohol has really gone downhill compared to three years ago.”
Suzy was speechless but she couldn’t deny it.
“Look at those dark circles under your eyes. Even a raccoon would be jealous. Go get some rest–I’ll make you some soup.”
Suzy smiled, genuinely. “Alright!”
Once she reached her room upstairs, she threw herself onto the bed and stared at the celling for a while, letting her mind go blank before reaching for her phone.
Suzy hadn’t slept well last night, so she had been napping during the entire ride home. Now, pulling out her phone, she noticed something surprising: a friend request on a messenger account that only a few people knew about.
She quickly opened it. “Dylan?”
How did he get this number?
Her heart raced for a moment, thinking she’d been exposed. But she soon calmed down.
If she had really been found out, Dylan wouldn’t have reacted the way he did at the lawyer’s office, so….
“Victor?”
Aside from him, Suzy couldn’t think of anyone else who might have given this contact to
Dylan.
and no
Victor Steele, the CEO of the Steele Group, had mysteriously disappeared a year ago, one knew where he was. Everyone assumed he was dead, except for the childhood fiancée he’d been betrothed to since he was five. She not only ran his company but also searched. the world for him, refusing to believe he was gone.
Most people wouldn’t be able to track down this number, but Victor, with his long- standing friendship with Dylan, likely could.
vas!
Suzy’s eyes darkened slightly as she hit “accept.”
Might as well see what he wanted,
Soon, a message came through.
Hp?”
As usual, Dylan was curt and to the point.
Chapter 0041
That suited her just fine. She didn’t feel like wasting words on him either.
Her fingers flew over the screen as she typed back.
+25 BONUS
He paused for a while before responding, and Suzy guessed it might have taken him a second to figure it out.
After all, he was an old fossil who couldn’t surf the web–a joke his younger sister liked to make. She often said he was like a caveman, unable to understand anything she sent him
online.
“Investigate Allen Wheeler.”
‘…I really didn’t expect that,” Suzy muttered to herself, surprised at the request.
So that was why he had been so fixated, even accidentally blurting out Allen’s name more than once. And now, he was going through all this trouble to look into him?
The fact that Dylan had come to her must mean that Victor hadn’t been able to dig up anything, leading him to pass her contact along
Whether it was Allen, Riley, Raven, Avalon, or anyone else from the organization, Suzy had placed special firewalls around all their information. No one, not even someone with Victor’s top–tier intel skills, could break through them–except her.
Dylan would probably never guess that the person on the other end of the phone was actually Suzy.
With a scoff, Suzy typed back.
