Chapter 0424
The man pressed his lips together. “I see.”
That was all he said, offering no further comments. Suzy didn’t press him for more, and when the day’s tour ended, she handed him another card. “Here’s twenty thousand dollars. Consider it a tip for today. You’ve spent the whole day with us, and I really appreciate it.”
Her generosity left the man feeling a bit uneasy. “The money you’ve already given me is more than enough. I can’t accept this.”
Suzy firmly placed the card into his hand. “Take it–it’s what you’ve earned. I’ve been in a terrible mood because I couldn’t find him, but after spending the day with you, I feel a lot better. I’ll need your help again tomorrow to show us around some more.”
The man hesitated as if he wanted to say something, but in the end, he said nothing. As he left, he discreetly slipped the card back into Suzy’s hand.
Watching him walk away, Suzy turned to Victor. “Have someone keep an eye on him. He knows where Dylan is but seems to be afraid of something. It might even be related to the people who were secretly tailing us during the day.”
“People were following us?” Victor asked, clearly caught off guard. “Since when?”
“Ever since we first approached that man at the slave market.”
Victor frowned. “So, you deliberately let him lead us around all day–not just to get information from him but also to test the waters and see who might be pulling the strings?”
Suzy nodded. “That man didn’t change his story because he made a mistake. He’s been threatened. I just don’t know if it’s connected to Claude.”
Victor’s brows furrowed even deeper. “It has to be. Claude is a schemer. He would’ve made sure everything was set in motion before his death. Take the guy you captured earlier- he’d rather die than reveal Dylan’s location. Whoever’s threatening this man must also be working for Claude.”
Suzy let out a heavy sigh. “If that’s the case, we need to tread carefully. Acting recklessly might put Dylan in even greater danger. We have no idea what kind of situation he’s in right now.”
There was one thing Suzy simply couldn’t understand:
Why hadn’t Claude killed Dylan?
According to Claude’s logic, his hatred for Dylan ran so deep that he would never have spared him. Yet, Dylan was still alive.

Could it be that he kept Dylan alive just to torment him? After all, sometimes living could be far more painful than dying–like now, being forced to endure separation from his
loved ones.
That had to be it. Otherwise, there was no reason for Claude to let Dylan live this long.
