Seeing Nadia cough up blood, Victor froze in panic. 

In all the years he’d known her, Nadia had been practically indestructible–never sick, barely even catching a cold. For her to suddenly collapse like this was unthinkable, and it sent a jolt of fear racing through him. 

No matter how much he called her name, she didn’t respond. 

Fighting down his rising anxiety, he quickly dressed her and rushed to Hillside Villa. 

Suzy had just finished helping Dylan upstairs. 

At nearly five–foot–seven, carrying a man who stood close to six–foot–three was no easy feat. Even though Dylan was much thinner than before, it still took all her strength. Dylan had protested at first, saying he could sleep on the couch instead. 

Something about him felt different, though, and Suzy couldn’t shake the feeling. It was almost as if he were avoiding her. 

In the past, Dylan would find any excuse to stick to her, always eager to be close. Now, with the chance to be near her, he seemed to pull away instead. 

Both of them had worked up a light sweat, so Suzy went to the bathroom to bring back a basin of warm water. 

“Take off your shirt,” she said, setting it down beside him. 

“I can do it myself,” Dylan replied quietly, lowering his gaze. “It’s late. You should rest.” Suzy raised an eyebrow. “What’s wrong? Afraid I’ll take advantage of you?” 

“I just don’t want to trouble you.” 

Suzy studied him for a moment before speaking. “Dylan Wright, ever since I said I’d reconsider our relationship, you’ve been acting strange.”

Though her tone was impatient, she still went downstairs to answer the door.

“What happened?” Suzy asked immediately. 

Victor looked completely lost. “I don’t know! She suddenly started coughing up blood and then passed out. I tried calling her name, but she wouldn’t wake up, so I brought her straight to you. Can you please just stop asking questions and check on her?” 

He was pacing frantically, like a cat on a hot tin roof.
