“Good, if that’s the case,” Dylan said, frowning “So, Evangeline is innocent, and the real masterminds are Serena and Helena. Does your brother have any leads on Helena?” 

“Not yet,” Suzy replied. “My brother said Helena is extremely cunning. He’s been searching for her for months and hasn’t uncovered anything.” 

“And what’s the reason they’re forcing you to kill Evangeline?” Dylan asked. “What kind of motive could make them push you so relentlessly? Could it really have something to do with your connection to her?” 

Suzy let out a faint laugh. “You wouldn’t believe it even if I told you. The reason they want me to kill Evangeline is so my brother and I will turn against each other–because Evangeline is his woman!” 

Dylan blinked in surprise. “Well… you’re right. I never would’ve guessed that.” 

“That’s why you need to leave, Dylan,” Suzy said, her expression serious. “My brother and Ican handle this. You don’t need to stay here.‘ 

She looked directly into his eyes. “Please stop saying you won’t leave. I know you care about me, but I don’t want to drag you into this. You have Grandma and Diana–they’re your whole world. Think of them and go back.” 

Dylan’s voice softened slightly. “Even if you have your brother, I’m still not leaving you behind. Grandma wouldn’t be happy with me if I did.” 

With that, Dylan turned to leave, tossing a parting remark over his shoulder, “It’s late. Get some sleep.” 

Suzy stared after him, speechless. 

Why was he so damn stubborn? 

“Fine, let him do what he wants,” she thought. 

What Suzy didn’t know was that their entire conversation had been overheard by someone lurking in the shadows. 

The eavesdropper wasted no time relaying the information to Helena. 

“Your Majesty,” the informant said urgently, “Simon Frost and Suzy Frost have already met, and he’s told her everything!” 

“Damn it!” Helena grabbed the nearest object and hurled it to the floor. “I thought I could drive a wedge between those siblings, but they didn’t fall for it!” 

Her fury wasn’t limited to Simon and Suzy’s bond; the fact that Dylan was still alive only added fuel to her rage. She had been targeting him for years–three, to be exact- and yet,
