Yet, for some reason, Serena felt there was an underlying meaning in Evangeline’s words. 

She studied her sister closely but couldn’t detect anything out of the ordinary. Maybe she was just overthinking it. 

As Evangeline had said, Serena was her only family in this world. Why would she ever doubt her? 

After all, Serena had done plenty of things behind Evangeline’s back over the years, and her sister had never suspected a thing.
