As Suzy advanced step by step, Anne’s panic overwhelmed her, and she could no longer worry about the rat that might still be crawling inside her pants. Her heart was pounding rapidly as she backed away, only to feel the cold wall press against her spine–there was nowhere left to run. 

Right now, Suzy terrified her more than the persistent rat ever could. 

“Who… who are you really?” she stammered, trying to mask her fear, though her voice still shook. 

Suzy pressed a foot against Anne’s chest, pinning her in place. “You don’t even know who 

your I am, yet you had the audacity to come after me again and again? Should I admire 

foolish?” courage, or just call you 

Anne gasped, struggling for breath beneath the pressure on her chest, finally forcing out a strained reply. “Three years ago, you started this! If it hadn’t been for you, Dylan and I would already be married!” 

“Is that so?” Suzy smirked, unfazed by her accusations. “Even without me in the picture, you and Dylan were never going to happen. Do you know why his grandmother never approved of you? Someone like you only managed to fool a blind man like Dylan.” 

Anne’s confidence wavered, a flicker of doubt in her eyes. “I didn’t deceive him…” 

Suzy was done with her excuses. 

Removing her foot, she looked down at Anne with a steely gaze. “Anne, let’s make a deal.” Anne’s eyes narrowed with suspicion. “What kind of deal?” 

Suzy laid out her terms. “I’ll take you back to Dylan and keep quiet about all of this, but I have a few questions. First, the poison in your system–you put it there yourself, didn’t you? Second, who tipped you off about it? And third, where did you get the antidote?” Anne sneered, her voice dripping with sarcasm. “As if Dylan would believe you over me!” 

“So…” Suzy leaned in, her voice dropping, “is that your final answer? No room to reconsider?” 

Anne swallowed hard. “Yes, the poison was self–inflicted. I found the information online, and I bought it there too.” 

“Online?” 

“Yes!” 

Suzy tossed her phone over. “Then go ahead–buy me another one.”
