Chapter 0057
“You’re not entirely innocent, so I owe you nothing…”
Suzy was left speechless, and even Desmond, standing behind Dylan, could barely restrain himself from wishing he could stitch his boss’s mouth shut.
“Oh, sir, if only I’d realized sooner that your intelligence and emotional IQ don’t match up. No wonder Mrs. Wright was set on divorcing you!”
Of course, Desmond kept these thoughts to himself. But seeing Suzy’s rising irritation, he knew he had to act fast to smooth things over.
With a light cough, Desmond stepped forward and offered Suzy the cake Dylan had
instructed him to pick up along the way.
“Mrs. Wright, we’ve finally gotten everything cleared up about the previous
misunderstanding. I picked up a cake for you on the way here–thought you might enjoy it.
If you like it, I’ll gladly bring you another next time I’m in the area.”
As he spoke, Desmond threw several pointed glances in Dylan’s direction, trying to hint to Suzy that the cake was actually Dylan’s way of apologizing.
Internally, he couldn’t help but shake his head at his boss.
Dylan had always been direct, never one for subtlety.
Now, suddenly trying to apologize through roundabout gestures? It was throwing Desmond for a loop.
They’d passed the cake shop, and instead of saying he wanted to buy it, Dylan had simply ordered the driver to stop, then stood there, waiting silently.
Desmond needed a moment to realize what was going on, but thankfully, he’d guessed right.
This whole ordeal was exhausting.
Suzy picked up on Desmond’s hint, but Dylan’s stormy expression only annoyed her further. Especially after that comment he’d just made.
She was far too angry to be pacified by cake. Without even glancing at it, she turned to leave, but she’d barely taken a step before Dylan grabbed her arm. “What, don’t like it?”
“That’s right, I don’t!” Suzy shook off his hand. “If I wanted cake, the Harlow estate has plenty, so you needn’t go out of your way. Besides, I’m not interested in the flavor you
chose.‘
Dylan was speechless.,

The tension between them was palpable, and Desmond quickly stepped in to defuse it.” It’s my fault, my fault entirely–I should’ve checked your preferences beforehand, Mrs. Wright.”
“Mrs. Wright, could you let me know your preferred flavor? I’ll make sure to get exactly what you like next time!” Desmond tried to salvage the situation.
“That won’t be necessary,” Suzy replied, without sparing him any courtesy. “And stop calling me Mrs. Wright–I’m divorced, so call me Miss Frost.”
Desmond was left speechless.
“Well then,” he thought, “so much for her formerly gentle demeanor.”
It seemed “Miss Fiery Frost” was here to stay.
Dylan, who had been feigning indifference, now looked genuinely irritated. “Desmond, throw it away.”
“Sir…”
