Chapter 0578
It was natural for people to feel vulnerable and crave comfort when they were unwell.
Dylan followed the housekeeper all the way to Elliot’s room, arriving just in time to see the two locked in an embrace.
The sight hit him harder than the photo had.
It was clear that Suzy cared about Elliot.
Though she might not have romantic feelings for him now, it didn’t mean she had no feelings
at all.
Emotions were tricky–spending too much time together could easily turn their bond as mentor and student into something more.
The more Dylan thought about it, the more uneasy he became. He couldn’t let them spend too much time together..
As Dylan approached, Elliot noticed him immediately.
The door had been left deliberately open just so Dylan would see that moment.
With his goal accomplished, Elliot acted startled, quickly pushing Suzy away. Then, in a deliberately annoyed tone, he snapped at Dylan, “What are you doing here? Who let you in?”
Hearing that, Suzy turned her head, her expression immediately darkening when she saw Dylan. “Aren’t you supposed to be injured?”
She then looked at Desmond, who was pushing Dylan’s wheelchair. “This is what you call a serious injury?”
Desmond was speechless.
He had said they shouldn’t come, and now it had completely backfired. Not only had their excuse been exposed, but that earlier scene had nearly driven Dylan to rage.
Desmond glanced at Dylan, who sat silent and tight–lipped. If Dylan wasn’t going to speak, neither would he.
Dylan, however, was already feeling conflicted. Though he was guilty about the lie, he couldn’t help his frustration.
“I am injured,” he said defensively. “But then I received a message from your student. From what I saw, his condition seemed serious, so I rushed over. After all, he’s your only student. If anything happened to him, I knew you’d be worried.”
Elliot frowned. “What message? I never sent you any message!”
Dylan pulled out his phone and showed Suzy the photo. “Take a look!”

Elliot leaned over to see it as well. “That wasn’t me! Mentor, I’ve been with you the whole time. I’ve been feeling so awful–how would I even have the energy to send him a message? Besides, I didn’t even touch my phone!”
Suzy’s gaze flickered, her expression unreadable as she gave Elliot a long look before turning to Dylan. “The number is anonymous. How can you be so sure it was him?”
“So, what are you saying? That I’m deliberately framing him?” Dylan’s frustration boiled over, Suzy’s trust in Elliot cutting him deeply, like a poison that seeped into his very soul..
