“Do you think you can just decide that you’ll stick around me?” Suzy sneered at Dylan. “Dylan, the only reason I let you in today was to tell you to stop pestering me.
“I tolerated you before because of Grandma, but that doesn’t mean I’ll keep putting up with it. From now on, stay away from me. I don’t want to see you again!‘
“Suzy-”
Before he could finish, Suzy grabbed the wheelchair and pushed him out the door, shutting it firmly behind him.
Desmond, waiting outside, froze.
He’d thought Dylan might finally get a breakthrough. Now it was clear he’d been way too optimistic.
Dylan, equally stunned, stared at the closed door. “Do I really have no chance left?”
Desmond was speechless.
How was he supposed to answer that?
There had been chances before, but Dylan had refused them. Now, when there were none, he insisted on wanting them.
Desmond kept his grumbles to himself, putting on a tactful expression instead. “I think she’s just still angry, sir. You did turn her down quite a few times before. Give her time to cool off.”
Dylan looked up at him, his expression unreadable. “How much time will it take?”
Desmond was speechless. How would he know?
Thinking quickly, Desmond forced a smile. “I think the priority right now isn’t figuring out when she’ll forgive you but helping her find her father. If you can track him down, she might be so happy she’ll forgive you on the spot.”
Dylan’s gaze darkened. “What about the investigation I told you to handle? Any updates?”
Desmond straightened. “Tanya is definitely suspicious. She seems perfectly normal on the surface, but the people we had tailing her noticed she’s been sneaking off to meet someone these past few days.”
“Who?”
“We haven’t figured out his identity yet. He’s incredibly cautious, and the team we sent after him lost him every time. He’s not easy to track.”
Dylan’s eyes narrowed. “Then stop following him. Let’s make him come to us.”
“What do you mean, sir?”

“Since Tanya’s involved, we’ll deal with her directly.”
Desmond finally understood. “Got it. I’ll send someone to detain her right away.”
Dylan nodded. “Book the tickets.”
“To where?”
“You tell me.”
“How would I know? That’s why I’m asking!” Desmond thought, grumbling internally. Would it kill him to give a straight answer? He wasn’t a mind reader!
After some consideration, Desmond booked tickets back to Ashbourne City. If he guessed correctly, Dylan intended to confront Tanya in person.
When they were boarding, Dylan said nothing, which finally put Desmond’s nerves at ease. He had guessed right!
