Chapter 0605
Chapter 0605
In an inconspicuous spot, they discovered a hidden mechanism leading to an underground basement—a basement Suzy had never known existed in her own home.
Yes, even as a member of the Frost family, Suzy had no idea such a large underground space was concealed beneath the estate.
The mechanism was concealed near the front entrance, cleverly hidden within the trunk of an old oak tree. It might have remained undiscovered if not for one of the searchers stumbling over a loose rock, falling against the tree, and accidentally triggering the hidden latch.
The deeper they descended, the more erratic Suzy’s heartbeat became. She both hoped and dreaded that her father would be inside.
She feared that if her father were there, his fate might mirror her mother’s. When they had found her mother in Charlotte’s hideout, she had been imprisoned in a dark, damp basement, subjected to inhumane torture for over twenty years.
The thought of her father enduring a similar fate was unbearable.
But after a thorough search of the basement, they found nothing–not her father, nor any sign of human presence.
It was just an abandoned basement, empty and desolate, with no hidden compartments or additional mechanisms.
“There’s no sign anyone has lived here,” Dylan said, wheeling himself carefully around before stopping in front of Suzy. “Your father probably isn’t here. And honestly, given how dark and damp this place is, it wouldn’t have been a good thing to find him here.”
Still steeped in gloom, Suzy glanced at him. “If you don’t know how to comfort someone, don’t force it.”
That said, he did have a point.
Not finding her father here was better than discovering him half–dead in such a horrific place.
The image of her mother, tortured and barely alive, remained seared in Suzy’s memory.
After one last look around, Suzy took a deep breath, steadied herself, and headed back outside.
Dylan glanced around the basement one last time, then leaned over to Desmond and whispered a brief instruction. After that, he hurried to catch up with Suzy.
Outside, just as Suzy was about to get into her car, Dylan called out, “The restaurant is booked.
Only then did Suzy remember she had agreed to have dinner with him earlier. She frowned slightly and gave a small nod. “Alright, I’ll follow you.‘

Dylan hesitated.
Couldn’t they just take the same car? If she didn’t want to ride in his, he’d happily join hers- it was all the same to him!
Ah, never mind.
The fact that she even agreed to dinner was enough of a victory for him. He should be content with that.
At the restaurant, Dylan ordered all of Suzy’s favorite dishes. Throughout the meal, he attentively served her, even placing food directly on her plate. “This restaurant is known for its great flavors. Try this. It’s really good!”
