Chapter 0631
Suzy’s words finally snapped Wendy out of her spiraling thoughts.
Realizing what she had just said, she quickly backtracked. “No, that’s not what I meant. I just meant… Charlotte isn’t here anymore. How do we know this man’s claims are true? Maybe he’s just trying to drag her name through the mud.”
Suzy smirked, her expression dripping with sarcasm.
“Charlotte’s name is still worth defending? Interesting. You’re quite protective of her, aren’t you? But let’s not forget–she ruined your husband and your son. By all accounts, she should be your biggest enemy. Shouldn’t you hate her?”
“I…” Wendy faltered, guilt written all over her face. Yet she stubbornly tried to maintain her stance.
“Yes, I do hate her. But what good does hate do? She’s gone, and no amount of hate will bring her back. I can’t spend the rest of my life consumed by it. Life is short, and I want to live it differently.”
“Fair enough,” Suzy nodded. “Carrying that kind of weight would be exhausting.
“But, what he just said is the truth. Charlotte had another reason for treating that girl so horribly. You probably don’t know this, but my grandparents didn’t originally intend to adopt Charlotte. They had actually chosen that bullied girl instead.
“Charlotte overheard their conversation with the orphanage director. When she realized the girl was about to be adopted by a wealthy family, jealousy consumed her. She wanted to steal the opportunity for herself. That’s when she orchestrated the bullying, had the other kids spread lies about the girl, and even accused her of stealing.
“One child making accusations might not have swayed my grandparents, but when several children said the same thing, it planted doubt in their minds.”
At this point, the man chimed in.
“Exactly. That’s how it happened. In the end, Mr. and Mrs. Frost decided not to adopt the girl. Instead, they chose her sister. Charlotte, of course, shifted her attention to her sister and wormed her way into their good graces. That girl was as cunning as they come–cold–blooded and ruthless.”
Hearing this, Wendy could no longer deny the truth. Her face turned pale, drained of all color.

Chapter 0631
“I’m not feeling well,” she murmured, her voice trembling. “I need to rest.”
Suzy’s gaze darkened, her expression unreadable. “Alright, everything that needed to be said has been said. Let’s go.”
When they returned to Hillside Villa, Wendy headed straight to her room and locked the door behind her.
Watching her retreat, Allen frowned with concern. “That was a lot for her to process. Do you think she’ll do something drastic?”
Suzy’s eyes remained fixed on the closed door. “There’s a camera in her room. Have someone monitor her every move closely.”
Inside her room, Wendy curled up under the covers, pulling the blanket tightly around her as if it could shield her from the storm raging in her mind.
Her thoughts were chaotic, her chest tight with suffocating emotions. Everything she once believed in had been a lie.
The best friend who had supposedly been willing to die for her? Just an act. A cruel performance.
Her life had been completely altered over something as trivial as a few pieces of candy.
Suzy’s words echoed in her mind: Mr. and Mrs. Frost had intended to adopt her, not Charlotte. But Charlotte had stolen that chance.
If she had been the one adopted by the Frosts, her life would have been completely different. She wouldn’t be living this miserable existence now.
But that wasn’t the worst of it. The most devastating realization was that she had mistaken her enemy for a benefactor.
For Charlotte, she had given up everything her parents, her love, her entire life.
She had even sacrificed her husband and her sor.
