Whether or not he knew the man, they gave him only three days to track down the person who had given him one hundred thousand dollars. It wasn’t about being harsh—they simply understood that, under pressure, people can sometimes tap into hidden potential, especially when their own lives are at stake. 

During those three days, they secretly followed the man. However, they had overestimated him. Completely clueless about the person he was looking for, he wandered around aimlessly, like a headless chicken, asking anyone he could find. Near the massage parlor, he stopped almost every passerby, questioning them one by one.

“For him to single you out in a place full of people, he either knew something specific about you or had been observing you for a while,” Suzy analyzed. “Think carefully—was there anyone you ran into frequently in the days leading up to this?” 

“I don’t think so…” The man tried hard to recall but found nothing unusual. “ Whenever I go to the massage parlor, I don’t stay long. I have a wife at home, and I’m worried about running into someone who knows me. If word got back to her, and she divorced me because of it, it wouldn’t be worth the risk. 

“Even though my wife and I have been married for years, and the feelings between us aren’t what they used to be, I still don’t want to lose her.” 

Allen, standing nearby, couldn’t hold back. “Because you don’t want to lose your free housekeeper, right?” 

It reminded him of William, who had long been involved with Anne’s mother while pretending to be a family man in front of his own wife. He’d only kept up the facade to avoid a divorce that might expose him. 

Not only would exposing him damage his image, but he’d also lose his “free housekeeper.” 

It seemed the world was full of men just like William–self–serving and despicable.
