The situation was painfully clear to Suzy—she’d been set up.
Whoever was behind this had been monitoring her every move, laying out a trap long before she arrived, just waiting for her to walk into it.
Her gaze sharpened as she looked at the man in front of her, his eyes blazing with hatred.
"You and I both know I didn’t kill your mother. What I can’t figure out is, what price could be high enough for you to sacrifice your own mother?"
"What are you talking about? You’re the one who killed her! If you’re not going to admit it, fine, but don’t you dare try to pin this on me!"
He pulled out his phone, his fingers shaking as he dialed. "I’m calling the police right now!"
And he did.
Suzy didn’t stop him.
There was no point—it wasn’t like she could. Instead, she decided to see just how far this setup would go.
Within minutes, the police arrived.
It wasn’t surprising, given that Suzy had noticed a police station just a short distance from Vivian’s building when she arrived.
That explained their quick response.
Surely, even the mastermind behind this wouldn’t have gone so far as to pre-arrange the police, right?
The officers stepped inside and immediately took a hard stance. One of them fixed a sharp glare on Suzy.
"We received a report that you’re involved in a suspected case of home invasion and murder. Can you explain why the victim is lying here dead? Did you kill her?"
"If I say no—" Suzy began, only to be cut off by one of the officers, who clearly wasn’t impressed with her calm demeanor.
"If you didn’t kill her, then why are you at the scene of the crime?"
"Is it impossible for me to be doing a good deed?" Suzy replied with a faint smile.
