Dylan's heartfelt confession stirred something in Suzy, but she quickly suppressed it.
"Now’s not the time for romance!" Suzy pulled her hand out of Dylan's grasp again.
"There are so many people counting on us to save their livelihoods. Focus, and stop with the useless chatter!"
Dylan nodded. "Got it."
The two of them turned their attention back to the task at hand, joining forces against the unseen enemy on the other side of the computer.
Individually, they were formidable, but together, they were unstoppable. Half an hour later…
Looking at the now-deciphered code, Suzy finally allowed herself a small smile. "Finally, it’s done!"
Dylan also felt a sense of accomplishment, not just because of the success, but because they had achieved it together.
It wasn’t about the victory itself—he was no stranger to success—but this time, it felt uniquely satisfying.
As they finished, their eyes met, and they exchanged a smile.
The emotions in their gazes said everything they didn’t put into words.
Dylan extended his hand toward Suzy. "Miss Frost, I hope you’ll be by my side for the rest of my life."
Suzy’s heart skipped a beat as she looked at Dylan’s broad palm. Over the years, he was the only man who could unsettle her like this.
She couldn’t understand why, out of all the men in the world, Dylan was the one who affected her so deeply.
As Allen once said, Elliot wasn’t a bad choice. Even though they had a mentor-student relationship, there was nothing inherently wrong with that—no rules prohibited such relationships from turning into something more. But with Elliot, there wasn’t even the faintest spark of romance for her.
From the very beginning, Suzy’s feelings for Dylan had never truly faded, even though she once swore she’d never go back to him.
