Hearing the words “he set himself on fire” nearly made Suzy lose her balance.
“What exactly happened?”
“Mrs. Wright, I just got off the phone with Mr. Wright. He told me to get your father back, so I was preparing to act discreetly. But suddenly, your father set his clothes on fire…”
Suzy didn’t need to ask further. She already knew what had happened.
That person likely hypnotized him again and pushed him to do it.
Taking a deep breath, Suzy asked, “Where are you now?”
“Fortunately, we were close when it happened and managed to put the fire out in time. He’s injured but not critically. I’ve already brought him to a hospital near the main Frost family estate.”
Hearing this, Suzy felt some relief. “I’m on my way.”
After ending the call, Suzy turned to Dylan. “Something happened to my dad. I’m heading over. Don’t let anyone in while I’m gone.”
Dylan wasn’t comfortable letting her go alone. “I’ll have someone accompany you.”
“There’s no need. I’ll handle it myself. Just make sure no one gets in here, no matter who it is,” Suzy reminded him firmly as she grabbed her things.
“And don’t open that door for anyone.”
“I understand.”
Not long after Suzy left, Diana showed up.
Though Suzy had been clear about not seeing anyone, Diana was clearly an exception.
Hearing a knock at the door, Dylan didn’t think twice. He used the remote to unlock it.
As soon as Diana walked in, she asked, “Brother, why are you locking the door in the middle of the day?”
Dylan didn’t answer her question. Instead, he urged her, “Close the door.”
Sensing something was off, Diana quickly shut the door and walked over to him, her face full of concern. “What’s going on?”
“Got it. I’ll head back now, but if you have time tonight, bring Sis over for dinner.”
Diana made her way to the door but suddenly stopped and turned back.
Reaching into her bag, she pulled out a piece of candy, unwrapped it, and popped it directly into Dylan’s mouth. “I just bought this while shopping. It’s delicious. Try it!”
Dylan immediately frowned, trying to spit it out, but Diana quickly covered his mouth with her hand, holding it firmly in place.
In that moment, realization struck. Something wasn’t right about Diana.
With a sharp movement, Dylan pushed her away and spat out the partially melted candy.
His piercing gaze locked onto her like a hawk. “You’re not Diana.”
Diana laughed softly, her demeanor calm and unaffected.
“What are you talking about, Brother? If I’m not Diana, then who could I be? I’m your real sister, your only sister. We’ve lived together for so many years. How could you suddenly not recognize your own family?”
