“What are you thinking?” Dylan sighed softly.
“Even if I wanted to take something, someone would have to bring it to me first! Maybe I was just too worried about you.
“I kept telling myself, over and over, that I had to get better so I could protect you. And somehow, I just found the strength.
“If I did take anything, it was the power of love.”
Suzy rolled her eyes, feeling a bit overwhelmed by his cheesiness. “You’re sure you’re not lying to me?”
“If you don’t believe me, you can ask Desmond,” Dylan said, his gaze steady as he looked directly into her eyes.
“At a time like this, how could I possibly lie to you?”
“You’d better not be…” Suzy finally allowed herself to relax.
“Dylan, you’re right, things aren’t in our favor right now. So, no matter what happens, you can’t keep anything from me.”
“I got it!” Dylan urged her gently.
“I’m fine here. Go find Elliot. Desmond already knows what to do. He’s gathered enough people to help you search for him.”
“Alright.”
Just before stepping out, Suzy hesitated and glanced back.
“No matter what happens, call me the moment there’s a problem. Understand?”
“Got it! I’m staying right here at home. What could possibly go wrong? Don’t worry about me.”
Only then did Suzy turn and leave.
But Suzy’s suspicion wasn’t unwarranted. Dylan was hiding something from her.
Once she was out of sight, Dylan finally allowed his tense body to relax.
Suzy was right—his rapid recovery wasn’t natural. He secretly took another medication.
