CEO Broke Down and Cried After I Divorced Him novel Chapter 770

Suzy stared at the monstrous wave closing in on them, and despite her composed exterior, fear gripped her heart.

After all, she was human, and humans feel fear, especially when someone else’s life depended on them. With Diana on her back, her tension was overwhelming.

Her palms, clenched around the control lever, were already slick with sweat.

"Diana, don’t be afraid," she whispered, her voice steady but more for herself than the unconscious girl.

"I’ll get you out of here safely. You’ll be back with Grandma and Dylan soon, I promise."

Repeating those words was her way of calming her own nerves, a mantra to keep her focus sharp.

"It’s coming… it’s coming!"

The middle-aged man beside her was wide-eyed with terror, his pupils blown wide and the red veins in his eyes stark against his pale face. His fear was palpable.

As the wave reached them, towering and unstoppable, Suzy gritted her teeth, summoning every ounce of her strength and willpower.

At the very last moment, she yanked the controls, pouring all her effort into steering the ship.

Against all odds, the vessel turned. The ship, which was on a collision course with the wave, miraculously adjusted its direction just in time.

The middle-aged man’s jaw dropped, his face filled with disbelief. "You… you actually did it?!"

Even Suzy was momentarily stunned. She hadn’t expected to pull it off.

"I’ve been piloting ships for decades, and even I can’t always avoid a situation like this. But you, a young, slim girl, you actually pulled it off!"

His gaze shifted to one of admiration, bordering on reverence.

Suzy flashed him a faint smile. "Maybe that just means your skills need work."

The man was speechless.

"I’m kidding," Suzy added quickly, giving him a once-over.

"We’ve just been through life and death together, so I want to ask you something. Would you be willing to answer honestly?"
