The moment the words left her mouth, Evangeline raised her hand and slapped Helena across the face. "You just can’t stand seeing me happy, can you?"
"I was talking to Suzy. Why are you so worked up?" Helena said, rising from the couch.
Without hesitation, she returned the slap with equal force.
"I thought you weren’t afraid of anything. But look at you—terrified that Suzy might see the truth about you.
“If she ever finds out who you really are, she won’t let you off the hook. Especially after what you’ve done to her.
“Knowing Suzy, she'd make you pay for it tenfold. So, if you're going to keep up the act, Evangeline, you better do a damn good job.
“One slip in front of her, and your downfall will be brutal."
"Helena, say whatever you want, but Suzy won’t believe a word of it," Evangeline said, her expression cold.
"Throw all the mud you like—it won’t stick.
"I don't know what my fate will be, but yours? It won’t end well. I can tolerate a lot of things, but I draw the line at you hurting my family.
"Suzy, don't worry. I swear I'll make sure she pays for what she's done to you."
With that, Evangeline gestured to the guards waiting outside. "Take Helena to the dungeon. Without my direct order, she never steps out again. Not in this lifetime."
Helena threw her head back and laughed.
"Oh, Evangeline, what a masterful move! First, you joined forces with your dear sister to steal my throne.
“Then you pinned all the blame on me while she took the fall. And now that I'm still breathing, you see me as a threat because there are people who still support me.
"You’re scared I might take back what’s rightfully mine. So, you manipulated Suzy into coming after me."
"This is all your doing, Helena, and now you're twisting the truth to play the victim! You know better than anyone what kind of person I am.
“If I were really as cruel as you claim, you wouldn't still be standing here today.
"And as for the throne—you gave it to me. I didn’t steal anything. If you wanted it back, you could've just said so. There was no need to go this far and hurt innocent people."
