“Claude…” she called softly. 

At the sound of her voice, the man’s head jerked up, his eyes wide in disbelief as he looked at the girl standing just a few feet away. “Suzy?” 

“No… it can’t be…” Claude let out a bitter laugh, immediately dismissing the thought.” Suzy died three years ago. This is just another illusion.” 

The sight of him like this tugged painfully at Suzy’s heart. 

She stepped closer, knelt down beside him, and gently took one of his hands, pressing it to 

her cheek. “Claude, I’m so sorry for making you worry for three years.” 

The warmth of her skin made his eyes turn red. “It’s really you?” 

Suzy’s eyes, too, filled with emotion. “It’s me.” 

“You’re alive… After all these years, you’re still alive…” Claude reached out and pulled her tightly into his arms. “My Suzy… you’re really alive.” 

Suzy didn’t resist, letting him hold her.

Three years had passed, but his embrace was just as warm as she remembered. 

After a long moment, Claude finally let go, still staring at her face, unchanged from his 

memories. 

He could hardly believe she was really there. “Where have you been all these years?” 

There was no way Suzy could tell him about her time with Dylan. 

“Three years ago, someone tried to take me out, so I used the opportunity to lure them out of hiding. But even after all this time, that person still hasn’t shown themselves–they’re hiding even deeper now.” 

She shifted the conversation away from herself “And you? How have these past three years been for you?” 

Claude gave a self–deprecating smile. “What do you think? Look at me. Things haven’t been good, and they’re only going to get worse from here.”
