Chapter 109 

Moore got out of the elevator and turned to his right, following the description he was given at the reception. He saw his son pacing up and down outside the ward, running his fingers through his hair furiously. 

“Son.” Moore voiced out, announcing his appearance. It was a VIP ward, so Cole was the only one in the reception area. He turned around and looked at his father. Moore’s heart went out to his son. He could see the worry and 

pain in his eyes. 

“Any news from the doctor.” 

Cole sighed, closing the gap with his father. “Not yet. I swear I’m going to kill Connie with my bare hands if anything happens to Hailey or my baby.”

“Please be positive. Hailey and the baby will be fine. But what really happened?” 

Cole heaved a deep sigh, running a hand over his face. “Today was meant to be a good day. We had a doctor’s appointment for 2. I was to pick her up at 1, then head over to the hospital, we would go home, pick the kids, then drive to your place for dinner.” 

“I was on my way to pick up Hailey when she called. It was a group call with me and Debbie. We heard loud conversations and detected that the second voice was Connie’s. I called the cops and fortunately, we got to ENROL 

at the same time.” 

“Connie was dressed in disguise so she was able to make her way into the company. She locked the receptionist in 

the bathroom so she could gain access into Hailey’s office.” 

“She was there to tell Hailey to withdraw the suit against her.” 

“She has an insane confidence for someone who has committed so much crime.” Moore voiced out. 

“I want her to experience a slow and painful death. Guess what? Eric is not Vanessa’s biological Dad.” 

Moore stared in shock. 

“Connie said so?” 

“Yes, and it all makes sense now. She was with Eric all along for the fortune. The love, everything else was fake. Eric brought in a gold digger that ruined everything for him and guess what, that bitch killed Hailey’s mom. She was about to do the same to Hailey but thank Goodness I got there on time.” 

“And to think I was friends with her. I never knew she was a terrible person. I’m so sorry, Son.“. 

“Of course, She’s fake friends with you so you could give me off to Vanessa and then she would slowly have access to everything that we have worked for.”

Moore gave his son a light squeeze on his shoulder. He could see Cole’s eyes were heavy with tears. 

“I wish I didn’t let Hailey go to work today.” 

“No. This is neither of you’s fault. If There is anyone to be blamed, then it is Connie. I am happy she’s in custody now and I pray Hailey and the baby survive this so you all live your lives in peace and happiness.” 

Cole sighed deeply, knowing his father was right but he badly wanted to know how his woman and baby were doing. 

Moore was about to say something when the door to Hailey’s ward opened, followed by the doctor, walking out of the room. 

Cole rushed towards him and Moore followed suit. 

“How’s She, Doc?” Cole asked the middle–aged doctor. 

“She passed out due to shock and so much pain but she’s conscious now and would need to be on bed rest for the next few days.” 

“What about the baby?” Cole asked, his heart beating really fast. 

“The baby is fine and I would suggest extra care is taken because she’s still in her very crucial period.” 

Cole had no idea when he let out a deep sigh of relief. He brought his finger to the corner of his eyes and dabbed away the tear. 

“Can…can I see her?” 

“Sure?! She wants to see you too.” 

“Thanks, Doc,” Cole said, then made his way into the ward. 

Once Cole was in, he rushed to Hailey’s bedside. She was lying on her back but the bed was raised as though she was in a sitting position. Her face looks pale. And she had a band aid on the left side of her forehead. 

“My love!” Cole sat on the bed and pulled her into a warm, long hug.

Hailey hugged the love of her life in return, crying in his chest. 

Cole kissed her forehead, caressing her back as she cried her eyes out. “It’s okay, my love. I’m here now. Everything is going to be fine.” He continued to whisper kind words in her ear until she calmed down. 

Cole reached for some tissue in the tissue box nearby and wiped tears off her face. 

“I’m sorry I put the baby in danger.” 

“Don’t feel guilty about that. You didn’t do it on purpose. You and the baby are fine now. That’s all what matters.” 

“I was scared.” 

Cole reached for Hailey’s hand and gave it a light squeeze. “I was scared too. I didn’t know what I would do if anything were to happen to either of you.” Cole took a glance at her belly, he leaned close and placed a deep kiss on it. 

“I’m glad you placed a call to us. Connie is really insane.”
