I made myself a promise that I was going to protect my family with all I have even if it meant personally babysitting you all so you all would not leave my sight.”

Hailey adjusted herself so she could look him in the eyes in return. “You can never harm us.”
“I was just following the doctor’s instructions and complying with your bed rest rules. He said no strenuous activities for the next few days. I was trying to be disciplined but+failed.”
“Did the doctor tell you specifically that no sex?”
Cole shook his head. “He only said nothing strenuous. I classified sex under strenuous activities. The plan was to
let you be in bed all day and pamper you.”

“Jess called me while you were in the shower. She wanted to know if we would be showing up at the courthouse tomorrow. For the ruling on Vanessa and Connie’s case.”

“Definitely, I don’t want to be left out. I need to laugh last.”
“Your health.”
“I know. I know I’m on bedrest and not required to go anywhere but I have you and that makes me feel so calm.”

Cole nodded, understanding that it would mean so much to her to see justice being done.

“Do you think your Dad is going to be there?”
“I don’t know. And I don’t care.”
“My Dad said Eric came to see him. He said Eric was looking malnourished and unkempt.”
Hailey sighed deeply. “He brought all of these upon himself. He would have been enjoying his old age with his family if he didn’t have an affair with a whore.””
“He disowned me and didn’t give two f-**ks how I was doing. He instantly denied me. I went missing for years and
he didn’t bother to search for me and neither did I care enough if I was dead or alive. In as much as my mind is telling me otherwise, there is no way I am going to feel anything for him. He deserves all that is coming to him.”
“It’s a pity he traded a beautiful family for something that ruined him,” Cole said.
“I still feel he knew what he was doing. The day I took over Sumner Incorporation, I made it known that Vanessa and Connie had been stealing from the company but he still housed them.”
“That’s true. I wonder what his reaction is going to be when he finds out Vanessa isn’t his daughter.”
“Isn’t it crazy that he disowned his own daughter just to care for another man’s child?”
“Eric really shot himself in the leg.”
“Let’s not talk about him,” Hailey said.
“It’s fine, baby. The estate agent sent some pictures of available homes. You want to have a look?”
Hailey’s eyes lit up. “Yes, Please.”
Cole nodded. He reached for his phone on the nightstand and they spent the next fifteen minutes going over all the pictures and airing their thoughts about each property.
“So, which is your favorite?” Cole asked once they were done viewing all the pictures.
