Chapter 35
The ride to the Summer’s mansion was quiet and very tense. All Cole could see was RED. He was trying his best to hold tears back and at the same time, thinking of the possible ways he was going to deal with Vanessa and Connie. He couldn’t wait to come face to face with them.
Cole was drowning in his thoughts when his phone buzzed by his side: He wasn’t in a good mood but he knew now wasn’t the time to ignore phone calls so picked up his phone to see who it was and saw that it was his father.
He watched his phone ring for two seconds before answering it.
“What the hell, Cole? You got a girl pregnant and I am the last person to know about it? Congratulations and when is the wedding?”
Cole Matthis mentally facepalmed.
“Who told you that bullshit?” He voiced out even when he had an idea of who it could be.
“Is that really important? Why do I have to be the last person to know that I am going to be Grandfather? I know I told you that I want grandkids but you don’t need to keep it as a surprise. You should start getting ready for the baby. I want you and Vanessa married before the baby comes. And please be kind to her. You know you can’t act harsh now that she is carrying your heir.”
Cole scoffed in disbelief. “You think the baby she is carrying is mine?”
“Oh Cole, you shouldn’t think that way. I know how you are feeling. I had cold feet when your mom told me she was pregnant with you. I promise you that as a first–time Dad, it is okay for you to feel some type of way. But I give you my word that you will get the best feeling when you hold your baby in your arms for the first time.”
Cole’s heart fell upon his father’s statement. And for the first time ever, it hit him that he missed all these precious moments with Hailey. For her to have twins of that age, it was evident that she was pregnant before she left him. And for the first time, he was curious to know how she found out and why she didn’t tell him and most importantly, how she coped with two babies at the same time.”
Cole felt terrible.
“I don’t care what anyone has told you, Dad. The child with Vanessa isn’t mine.”
“Come on, Son. I know you both have been having issues lately but this is a new beginning for you all. You need to let go of the past.”
“Do you trust me?” Cole asked his father.
“Why would you ask me that? Of course, I do!”
“I know you want a grandchild so bad but I am not the father of the child Vanessa is carrying. If you don’t believe. me, then feel free to be a Grandfather to a child that isn’t your blood.”
Cole ended the call before his father could say anything else.
“I’m so happy. I am glad I took your advice, Mom. I feel at peace now. I know that I won for real this time. Vanessa smiled, taking a seat beside her mother.

Chapter 35
“Oh, that’s nothing. I know I’m smart and I am glad you took over me and that means I can always help you out.
“And of course, there is no way I am going to let you get cheated by that bastard child! Cole has always been yours and only you deserve to start a family with him.”
“I am so happy and I feel so proud of myself. Hailey is just a liar. She keeps saying she wants nothing to do with Cole but we could clearly see the pain in her eyes when I told her Cole and I were expecting a child.”
“She is a bimbo! And I would never see her win over my child.” Connie stated.
“I also told Moore that he is going to be a Grandfather.”
“Really? Vanessa smiled at her mother.
“Yes, he was really excited. I also made him know that the wedding has to be done before you start showing so you would be able to fit into that beautiful dress you saw in the magazine. He said he was going to speak to Cole and money won’t be an issue.”
“Oh, God, Mom, I love you so much.” Vanessa pulled her mother into a long hug.
“What’s going on here?” Eric’s voice came through, approaching his wife and daughter in the living room.
“Oh, I’m Congratulating my daughter in advance for her wedding.”
“You and Cole have talked this out?” Eric stared at Vanessa.
“What do you mean, Eric, of course, they are going to get married. You should be happy for your daughter.”
“Cole said
“Oh, please! To hell with what Cole said. He is just having Cold feet but I am sure he will come back to his senses soon enough. Connie said.
“And you should start compiling your guest list. Moore’s gonna call you anyway!”
“Are you that eager to send our daughter off to be married?”
“Don’t be dramatic, Eric. Cole isn’t just anybody. He was meant to get married to Vanessa four years ago, remember? But your so–called daughter ruined it!”
Eric ignored his wife and turned to his daughter. “Marry a man who loves you and is obsessed with you or else you. are going to regret it!” He said, then exited the living room.
“Why is Dad so mean?”
“Oh, he is probably having cold feet. Men have a hard time admitting that their daughters are getting married. Don’t worry, he is going to be fine.”
“We have a wedding to plan so nothing is going to distract us.”
“Now that everything is certain, you need to talk to Cole, Connie said to her daughter.
Vanessa sighed deeply.
Chapter 33
“Don’t be afraid, dear. Moore promised he was going to talk to Cole and I trust Moore to keep his word. You can go over to his place this evening.”
Vanessa nodded, happy that everything was already falling into place for her.
Eric was about approaching his car when he saw a familiar vehicle pull up in front of his home.
He saw Cole get down from the car in haste so he approached him.
“What a pleasant surprise, Co……
“Where the hell is your wife and bitchy daughter?!” He said at the top of his voice.
“What? Why?”
“I am not leaving your home until I kill them with my bare hands and feed their nasty bodies to the dog,” Cole said, then started to make his way in.
Out of fear and confusion, Eric went after him, trying to catch up with him.
“There you are!” Vanessa and Connie rose to her feet the moment they sighted Cole. Vanessa immediately ran behind her mother, scared of the looks she saw in Cole’s eyes.
“I was taught not to hit a woman but I am not leaving here until I deal with you both.” Cole said with so much anger after which his eyes scanned the living room for anything he could use to teach them a lesson.”
“What has come over you?” Connie voiced out with a shaky voice.
“What’s going on here? Eric interrupted, trying to stop Cole from getting close to his wife and daughter.
Not seeing anything he could use to attack them, Cole pushed Eric from the way and dragged Vanessa out by her arm from where she was hiding behind her mother. He pushed her against the wall and his hands instantly went to her neck, choking her with every form of anger he could feel in him for losing access to his sons. At this point, Cole forgot that he had a hand surgery a few days ago. “You bitch!!! Look into my eyes and tell me exactly when I fucked you and put a baby in you.”
*Please take your hands off her. “Eric was already by Cole, trying to push Cole off Vanessa but he wasn’t succeeding.
“Take your filthy hands off my daughter! She is pregnant and you are choking her. What the hell is wrong is wrong with you?” Connie said, hitting Cole but Cole didn’t pay any attention as he continued choking Vanessa.
Cole had no idea if she did it intentionally or not but Connie hit him directly where he was shot.
Cole freed Vanessa for a while. He had no idea when his hand landed really hard across Connie’s cheek after which he pushed her on the floor, not giving a damn if she hit her head on any surface.
