The smile on Cole’s face instantly faded when he saw Hailey stop in her tracks and bring her hand to her mouth.
He was almost asking her if she was good when she fled from him.
Cole frowned, seeing her dash into the adjoined bathroom. The frown got even deeper when her absence was followed by the sound of her puking her guts out.
Cole took fast steps to the table on the opposite side of Hailey’s desk, He placed the gift bag there, as well as his flowers, then made his way over to the adjoined bathroom.
He got in there and saw Hailey bent over the sink, rinsing her mouth.

“You okay?” He said with so much concern in his voice as he took steps towards her.
Hailey closed the tap, reached for a napkin beside her, and gently dapped her lips.
Then she turned to Cole who was standing really close to her, staring in confusion.
“Hi.” She said with her forced smile, her voice coming out really low.
“You Okay?” Cole approached her. He brought his hand to her face, softly caressing her cheek, still staring deep into her tired eyes.
Hailey said nothing.
“You want me to take you to the Doctor?”
She shook her head immediately.
“What’s going on? Is there anything you are not telling me?”
“You worry too much, I’m fine.” She finally said to him with a small smile.
“You had the biggest smile on your face earlier and then you got sick.”
“Let’s get you out of here before you get sick again.” Cole intertwined his hand with Hailey’s own and ushered her out of the bathroom.
He led the way to her desk area, sat on the chair behind the desk, and made her sit on his lap. His hands went around her waist possessively to keep her still.
“It’s okay if you don’t want to go to the hospital. I promise you that I hate hospitals too. I would call someone over to come check on you.”
“Thank you for caring but it’s nothing.”
Cole shook his head. “I’ve never seen you fall sick. And I don’t want you to start now.”
“I’m fine. It was a smell that upset me.”
“I thought it was your cologne but it isn’t. It might be the smell of the flowers. Where are they?”
“On the table over there.” Cole pointed to where it was. “That’s strange since you love roses.”

“I do! But that was probably too scented.”
“You don’t need to act all happy before me if you are really not in the mood for it. I know We’ve been quite busy all week and we’ve not gotten time to hang out but you should know your health comes first. We can always postpone till you are ready.”
Hailey shook her head. She brought her hand up to his shirt, slowly unbuttoned the first two buttons, then sucked one hand inside his shirt, caressing his chest.
“No. I could hardly concentrate on work because I was excited for tonight. I would never lie to you so believe me when I tell you that I’m fine.”

Cole shrugged. “I am used to people staring but I’ve got my eyes on the goal regardless.”
“Which is?” Hailes smiled, still caressing his chest.

“I’m one hell of a lucky woman. Aren’t I?”
“No, I am the one who is lucky to have you in my life,” Cole mumbled, sneaking his hands under her top, making Hailey giggle.

Cole shrugged. “We will have what we can.”
“Thank you.”
He arched his brow. “What for?”
“We are always around the kids but it feels good to have some time alone. I also cannot believe you booked the entire VIP section for us.” Hailey said, taking a glance at the empty room.
“Anything for you. I just want you to feel safe and free.”
“Thank you.” She smiled, reaching for the glass of wine before her.
Hailey brought the glass to her lips, took a sip, and then frowned, taking a look at the wine through the glass cup.
“What’s wrong?”
“This tastes weird.”
“Tastes like what?”
Hailey shrugged. “Unusual. I know this restaurant wouldn’t lower their standards by serving expired wine but it tastes like one.”
Since they were both having the same wine, Cole reached for his glass cup and took a sip. “Tastes good to me.”
“Really?”
Cole nodded.
“Let me try yours.” He placed the cup on the table before him, then took hers from her, taking a sip.
“This tastes the same as mine, babe.”
“That’s strange. I guess I would just go with some water.”
“Are you sure you are okay?” Cole stared at her suspiciously.
Hailey was about to say something when a voice came through.
“Cole Matthis!” The voice sounded cheerful, followed by some footsteps.
Both Hailey and Cole looked in the direction of the voice and came face to face with an unfamiliar figure.
Hailey had no idea why she suddenly felt nauseous. Hardly had the lady approached the table when Hailey excused herself and went in the
direction of the restroom.
Cole instantly rose to his feet and was about to go after her.
“I’ll check up on her.” The lady volunteered and went after Hailey. She met Hailes in the VIP bathroom, doing some breathing exercises.
Hailey rolled her eyes, the moment the lady walked in.
“You only just met me. Wouldn’t it be nice if you didn’t judge me yet?”
Hailey said nothing, her back was against the counter, trying to catch her breath.

“Does anything else taste weird in your mouth? Like food? Do you also feel nauseous or dizzy?”
