Chasing My Ex-wife Back (Hailey and Cole) novel Chapter 78

Chapter 78
Hailey stared at the stranger lady as though she had horns on her head.
She parted her lips to say something but words totally failed her.

“I….I don’t understand what you are talking about.” She stammered, trying to sound confident at the same time.
The stranger woman brought her hand to her forehead, massaging her temple. “Forgive me for being blunt. What I said is just a probability. Of course, there could be other factors affecting your taste bud. This is me talking based on experience. But of course, you would need a test before anything is confirmed.”
“But if you’ve got bugs or other related symptoms then I guess I could be wrong. Sorry about my words, I just want to make sure you are okay. Anything I can do to help?”
“Thanks for your concern but can you please take your leave?” Hailey pointed towards the door.
“No problem. I would be proud and rigid if I were to be in your shoes. I just want you to know that you are one hell of a lucky woman to be with Cole Matthis. Anyone would do anything to have him.”
“I am sort of in an entanglement but if Cole asks me out, I’m definitely not thinking twice about asking him when we are going to get married.”
Hailey glared at her.
She shrugged. “I just admire you because you’ve got nothing to worry about. Cole can be trusted. He must really love you to choose you.”
“I wish you both all the best. And if you are really pregnant, Please know that you are the luckiest woman in the world. You are pretty also. No doubt you and Cole are going to make beautiful babies.”
“I wish you all the best.” She turned around to take her leave but stopped by the door and turned around to take a glance at Hailey.
“Cole is worried about you.” She said, then took her leave, making her way towards the table with slow steps. She met Cole when she left him. He was still on his feet, looking crazily worried.
“Is she okay? Does she need me?” He asked.
“You like her so much, don’t you?”
“Now’s not the time for this Natasha. I remembered you are a nurse. I thought you were going to help her, that’s why I let you go in there.”
“She is fine. I mean she would be. She is adjusting herself. She should be out in no time.”
“Thank you but you shouldn’t have interfered with our date.”
Natasha frowned. “You think I made her sick?”
“That’s not the point. I was having a good time with my woman and you interfered.”
“Please don’t get mad at me.” She pouted. “What’s bad about seeing an old friend and greeting him?”
“I hope you didn’t say nasty stuff to Hailey.”
Natasha shrugged. “I think I was on my best behavior. I made her know how lucky she is to have you.”

Chapter 78
“Really?” Cole was trying so hard not to glare at her right now.
“She is not feeling too well and this is the conversation you are having with her?”
He sighed. “I shouldn’t have allowed you to go to her. I honestly thought you were going to be of help.”
“You don’t need to be mad at me. I mean well. I helped her out but I told her I was envious of her. Not out of spite, just a genuine
conversation.”
“You shouldn’t have come to say Hi.”
“So you are mad at me for being nice?”
“Just take your leave, Natasha.” Cole walked away, going in the direction of the bathroom.
Hailey took a deep breath the moment Natasha was out of sight. She leaned against the marble counter, staring at the mirror before her, the conversations with the stranger playing in her head.
Hailey snapped out of her thoughts and tried to remember if she was late or what was going on.
She sighed again, and brought her hand to her face, massaging her forehead.
Remembering that Cole was waiting for her and would probably be worried, Hailey opened the tap, washed and dried her hands after which
she exited the restroom.
Hardly had she taken more steps further outside the bathroom when she bumped into a very hard wall.
He looked up and saw that it was Cole, looking so worried.
He instantly cupped her face in his hands, staring deep into her eyes. “Are you hiding something from me?”
Hailey shook her head.
“You know I always trust you but this time around I don’t know what to think.”
Hailes’ heart started to beat really fast. “Did she tell you anything?”
“Natasha? No.”
Hailey sighed internally. She had no idea where her strength came from but she managed to put up a smile. She shrugged Cole’s hand off her
face, tiptoed, and placed a quick kiss on his lips.
“I’m fine. I just feel weird today. I think it’s my body being tired from all the hard work I have done all week. Aside from that, I’m good.”
“Are you sure? You are not mad at me because of Natasha?”
Hailey shook her head.
“She’s an ex. You’ve got nothing to worry about. And I am sorry. I shouldn’t have let her come to meet you. She’s got experience in the medical field, I thought she was going to be of help.”
Hailey nodded. “She told me.”

“Of her experience or the fact that she and I used to be together?”
“Both.”
“I don’t know what she said to you but Please don’t take it to heart. It’s probably nothing.”
“You mean your past relationship with her?”
“We never really loved each other.”
“It’s fine. You have me now, that’s what matters.”
“Thank you for understanding.” Cole leaned closer to Hailey and kissed her on the cheek.
“You still got some appetite? We can go home if you want.”
Hailey shook her head. “You put so much effort into this.”
“It doesn’t matter. Your health comes first. We can always reschedule.”
“No. I’m hungry. I want to enjoy this quiet time with you.”
“Okay. But let me know when you get tired.”
Hailey nodded.
