Chapter 83 

Vanessa parted her lips to say something but she ended up quivering. Her face felt heavy, she could feel the sting of her father’s hand against 

her cheek 

As a child who had always been pampered, who escaped for every lie and deceit done, this was really heartbreaking for her. The highest her father had done was to glare at her and raise his voice at her. 

“Lam talking to you, young woman and I need an answer from you, or else I’m going to end you right now.” Eric’s deadly voice came through. His fists were bawled by his side, trying all his best not to attack Vanessa any further, 

Vanessa started sobbing even harder because words falled her but one thing she was sure of was the fact that her father doesn’t do threats. If he said he was going to do something, then trust Eric Summers to live by his word. She could hardly even look into his eyes because she was scared of the danger she saw in them earlier. 

“You think I am joking hun?” Eric took two steps closer to Vanessa who took literally six steps back, afraid of what her father was going to do to her. She was about to take the 7th step when she missed her step and fell to the floor, causing her to cry even harder, her hand going against her belly. 

Eric shook his head. “Even that baby is not going to save your ass today. You are going to answer my questions right now! 

“What the hell is going on here?” A familiar voice came through and it turned out to be Connie who ran towards her daughter and helped her up from the floor. Then she sighted Vanessa’s cheek which made her speechless for the first couple of seconds. Vee was still sobbing. 

Connie turned her attention to her husband. “You did this?” She pointed at Vanessa’s face. 

Eric glared at her “Stay out of this!” 

“You are maltreating our daughter and you expect me to stay out of this? What has come over you, Eric? Are you out of your mind? You want to harm your daughter and your grandchild?” 

“I need a DNA test done. There is no way my sperm would have produced such an evil child that brings nothing but shame to me.” 

Connie stared in shock at her husband. “Are you suggesting that I cheated on you?” 

“You stole from me, you both were planning to leave the country when the company was very close to insolvency. You even had tickets booked. You both made up lies and watched me disown my own daughter. You made evil plans to ruin Cole and his career. Trust me, giving me another man’s child is no big deal for you.” 

Connie stared in shock, almost speechless. Her lips moved at first but no words came out. “How would you even say that? What has come over you?” 

“Do you have any idea what Vanessa did?” 

“I don’t care because my daughter is always right and you have no right to lay your filthy hands on her without my permission.” 

“Oh really? Just now you were attacking me for questioning her paternity and here you are classifying her as your child,” 

“As far as I am concerned, I have been taking care of her since birth, physically and financially so even if she is not biologically mine, my obligations to her give me the same right you have.” 

This is strictly between Vanessa and I so stay out of this.” 

“So you want to kill your daughter and grandchild over the slutty daughter you disowned a long time ago?”

Eric shook his head in disbelief. “I will never forgive myself for getting involved with you. You brought problems to my life. You ruined me. You gave me a child but you polluted her mind with so much hatred.” 

“You call this hatred just because she is brave enough to chase her dreams?” Connie countered. 

“You call this disgusting attitude chasing dreams?” Eric said, not believing this was the woman he brought home to be his second wife when he had a perfect woman for a first wife who loved him, gave up everything for him, and gave him peace of mind. 

“It’s not a disgusting attitude. Cole is the man of her dreams and she is doing everything to make sure she spends her forever with him.” 

“With a man that doesn’t love her a bit. How is that going to work?” 

Connie was about to say something when Eric cut her off. “This isn’t about Cole and Hailey being a couple. This is about Hailey’s personality. How dare she make a demeaning post about Hailey? A post filled with nothing but lies.” 

“W….well. th….they are not totally lies.” Connie stammers. 

“Of course! I wasn’t expecting you to say anything good.” Eric shrugged her out of the way, then faced Vanessa who stood by the edge of the counter, sniffling. 

“What provoked you to write defaming things about Hailey?” 

“You better don’t make me think I am speaking to myself. I need answers. I want to hear the thoughts going on in that evil mind of yours.” 

“Stay out of this, Dad. This is between me and Hailey.” Vanessa mumbled, sobbing quietly, not looking into her father’s eyes. She was in so much discomfort. She didn’t even feel this much pain the day Halley hit her. 

Eric chuckled in disbelief. “Between you and Hailey? Really? You did this because you discovered the baby you tried to kill years ago is not dead. It is not even one baby but two babies.” Eric raised two fingers at her face. 

“Because you were so pained about her bright future, you went ahead to write lies just so you could make her a bad person.”
