Chapter 127
Kaia's POV
I was still not over the fact that my picture was taken without my knowledge and somehow, it was sitting on my bed. The girls were trying their best to comfort me, assuring me that nothing was going to happen.
Dylan moved closer to where we were sitting, his hands in his pocket, his eyes blank. “Caleb is getting the warriors ready." He announced and I frowned.
“Warriors? Why?"
“It's just to be careful." He explained. “We don't want to be caught by surprise. Not that we think they're going to come or anything.” He added. I know he was trying to make me feel better but it wasn't working.
My hand wrapped itself around my stomach, fear setting in. Several thoughts running through my head. "What if they actually come? What would happen to my pup?”
"Let's just call Kieran, you'll feel better if he's here.” Allie suggested. And as if he could hear our conversation, the phone rang and his name was displayed boldly on the screen…he was the only one I call.
Lylah sighed heavily, she was also torn between wanting him to be our side and putting an end to the entire thing. But she was suggesting not telling him because she thinks we can handle whatever was coming.
“Bella," he called, his voice sounding strained and my frown deepened. “Baby, are you okay?" I asked.
“I'm fine…" he paused. “I don't think I can make it back today though." My heart sank when he said that. “I want to meet with the witch in the morning and as soon as that is done, I'll be on my way back home."
"Okay…”
He didn't respond immediately, "Bella…is everything okay? You don't sound good." I could hear the worry in his voice when he asked that.
I wanted to tell him it was only because I missed him and that I couldn't wait to see him. But the moment I opened my mouth, something else came out.
"I'm scared.” I told him, my voice barely above a whisper and I heard shuffling on the other end of the phone.
"What happened?” He asked, "talk to me, Bella." He said, more like begged. I couldn't feel anything coming from him and the only time he blocks me out, is when he doesn't want me to worry about how or what he was feeling.
“There w-were…t-they took pictures of me.” I managed to let out and I felt a sense of relief wash over me when I told him.
And for a few minutes, the only thing I could hear was his heavy breathing. But Lylah kept assuring me that I did a good job telling him.
When he finally replied, his voice sounded more controlled. “Bella, I'm going to be there soon…I promise. Just listen to Caleb, okay.”
I nodded, until I realized he couldn't see me. He then ended the call but only after making sure that I was okay and also because he wanted to drive. Once I dropped the phone, I rested my head on Dani's shoulder while her hand rubbed my arm lightly.
Talking to Kieran felt like a weight had been lifted off me.
“Ryder and I finally made up." Allie announced after no one said anything for a while. I offered her a proud smile.
I know she was trying to take my mind off what was happening and I was grateful but it was all I could think about at the moment and she noticed it as well.
“I'm sorry."
She shook her head, “it's okay. This is already a lot to deal with.” She said and I nodded.
Time was going, Caleb and Ryder were still not back and with each passing second, the more my uneasiness grew especially as Dylan had us stay in the room. Sleep eluded me even though I was tired but anytime I closed my eyes to sleep, the image of him, the day of the meeting woke me up. The girls had fallen asleep beside me but Dylan's eyes were glued to me.
“Do you need anything?" He asked.
