Chapter 138
Kaia's POV
My heart was racing about what the witch was going to say, if the attack was the harm that was supposed to happen or if we should be preparing for it. Kieran assured me that it was going to be fine…and I believed him until we ran into his mom.
Talk about being persistent.
"You can leave, it's Kaia I want to see." I heard her say, since I was a few steps behind Kieran. “This was the type of cake I ate when I was pregnant with you, I'm sure she'd like it too.”
Lylah snorted, “what does she take us for?" She asked, rolling her eyes.
Clarissa came towards me, reaching to hold my hand but Kieran stepped in front of me. “Like I said, we have somewhere to be. But don't worry, I'm sure she'll like it." He reached for the bag but she held tightly to it, causing us to raise our brows.
“I'm trying to make amends here, let me take care of her and your child like any mom would.”
I could tell that Kieran was restraining himself from going off on her and it was only a matter of time before he finally snapped.
“Let's go, Bella." He said instead. We had barely taken a step when she thrust the bag into Kieran's hand. "I baked it myself, it has nutrients for her and the baby.” She said, "Just give me a chance.”
If I didn't know her, I probably would buy her act. But no matter how much she tried to sound remorseful, there was something that stood as a barrier that didn't make anything she was saying move me.
“We're not eating that." I told him through our mindlink as soon as we started going.
“I wouldn't risk that." He replied, chuckling.
Since there was no dustbin in sight, we had no choice but to take it along to Kieran's office, where Caleb was keeping the witch alongside Dylan and Katherine. I wasn't sure about Allie and Ryder though, those two were inseparable.
Kieran pushed the door open causing the attention of everyone to turn to the entrance.
I don't know what I was expecting to see when Kieran said the witch was here….but she looked just like any of us. She looked like she was almost the same age or a bit older than Katherine, who sat quietly in one corner.
“Of course she's normal, we don't walk around with our paws out just because we're wolves.” Lylah said.
"Point taken.” I murmured.
Just as Kieran helped me to the couch, the woman fell to her knees with her head on the ground. My eyes widened at the sudden action.
“This is new." I thought.
"It's an honor to finally meet you, Chosen one.” She said, her head remaining on the floor. I turned to Kieran who sat upright before ordering her to stand up, which she did almost immediately.
That wasn't weird…
Kieran didn't waste any more time getting right into the reason we had her come in the first place.
“I want you to tell me everything you know and don't leave anything out."
She bowed softly, “Yes, Alpha." She said, “Though the prophecy didn't say who the father of the chosen one was going to be, there was no doubt it was the leader of the clan, whose mate was pregnant at the time."
"If my biological father was the leader of the Pack, it means I wasn't an Omega…never was.”
"After the attack, the prophecy was forgotten about until Katherine told me about her.” She continued, pointing at me.
"I started seeing visions about her in danger and at first it was just her in the pool of blood…” My chest tightened and my fist clenched tightly.
Kieran held my hand. "Nothing is going to happen to you, I promise.” He said.
