Chapter 56
Kieran's POV
I couldn't feel anything, nothing made sense no matter how hard I thought about it. It was like Kaia disappeared from everywhere, her smell was gone like the time we spent together was a fragment of my imagination.
“What did you find?" I asked Caleb who was panting heavily. We were standing in an opening in the forest close to the pack borders after searching all night but all to no avail.
“Nothing, Alpha. We will keep searching." He assured me.
“You should get some rest, Alpha." Ryder suggested.
My eyes darkened, “rest?" I scoffed. My mate was nowhere to be found, no trace whatsoever, rest was the last thing on my mind.
King couldn't feel Lylah at all. I get that she could easily block me out and hide her smell but King could always communicate with her wolf.
I was scared that something could've happened to her but I wouldn't be able to live with myself if anything does.
“I'll get in touch with the neighbouring packs, just in case she finds her way to one of them." Caleb said, and I nodded as he left.
Everyone went back to the pack house to get a bit of rest. I couldn't do the same, everything reminds me of her. The moment I close my eyes, an image of her pops in my head.
I went back to my office where Allie and Dani were. They stood up once they saw me. They also had a worried look on their faces.
“Nothing yet?” Allie asked.
I shook my head
"We'll find her.” She assured me.
Nodding my head softly, I called the Alpha's of the neighbouring pack, but all of them said the same thing, they will contact me if they see her.
The door creaked open and Ryder came in, a girl following behind him.
“She has something to tell you, Alpha." He said and my head jerked towards her. She looked scared…that makes two of us.
“Speak." I commanded.
“Uhmm…Luna…" she stuttered, swallowing harshly. I eased my gaze, I needed all the information I could get to find her.
"In the kitchen once, Ida met Luna Kaia…" she started, becoming more confident. My jaw clenched at the mention of Ida's name.
“She told her that you were not going to remain Alpha if she keeps being by your side. Then she asked her to do the right thing." She finished.
Allie's face lit up like she suddenly remembered something. "Laura said the same thing, and she asked us when she was in the hospital…but we didn't tell her because…” she paused.
My clenched fist hit the table loudly, causing them to jump.
"I'm sorry, Alpha.” The girl whispered.
My legs had minds of their own as I bolted out of the door. She left because she thought being an Alpha was more important to me than being her mate.
How do I make her believe I didn't care about anything that wasn't her.
King was howling in pain. He pushed himself, struggling to come to the surface and I let him as I transformed into my Lycan.
I ran, leaving Ryder and the others behind.
As I ran, I didn't think to pay attention to anything else. King ran through the forest…we've searched everywhere before, but there has to be something we were missing out on, that would lead us to her.
The deeper we went, I didn't believe Kaia came this far.
