Chapter 92
Kieran's POV
Everything was ready, the portion had been made, what was left was to put it in place and that was going to happen tonight. But to the warriors and everyone else who knew about it, it wasn't happening until next week.
What happened during the full moon mustn't repeat itself. Caleb had thrown himself in front of me, knowing fully well that the effect was less severe on me. But according to him, he wanted to make sure I caught those traitors and if I'd gotten shot, it'd be hard to transport me.
My command for him to rest fell on deaf ears, as he was in my office a day later, ready to get back to work. But I actually needed his help as the only other person I could trust decided was barely himself for reasons best to him.
The door swung open and Kaia came in, her smell filled my nostrils, and a sense of ease washed over me. Her presence alone was calming, exactly what I needed at the moment.
“Luna…” Caleb called, standing up to bow to her, something he started doing after she healed him.
I heard her groan, “You really don't have to do that, Caleb." She told him but he shrugs. A small smile played at the corner of my lips.
“How does she manage to look both shy and at the same time oozing authority?” I thought.
Pushing my seat away from my desk so she could have enough space, she walked over to me, sitting between my legs. My hand immediately wrapped around her, King purrs softly once she was comfortable
The past few days have been one of the worst, so I wanted to hold her as much as possible.
“I'll just come back, Alpha." I heard Caleb say which I just ignored. He didn't need to be told twice before he excused himself.
"You're going to be done tonight right?" She asked, her hands coming around my neck as she straddled me, and I fought back a moan. “I’ve missed you so much, Lylah misses King too.” She finished.
"I'll take you on a date once this is over.” I promised her, and she nodded. “I can't wait." She replied, kissing my lips.
Not giving me the chance to respond, she pulled away and stood up from my lap, causing a frown to appear on my face at the sudden loss of warmth.
“I'm going to get distracted and forget the reason I'm here if I continue this way." She said, my brows raised slightly at what she meant.
“It means she didn't come here to see us, you dumb head." King grumbled.
I rolled my eyes at him, “What crawled up your ass?” He ignored me, retreating to the back of my mind as I turned to face Kaia, who was serious about what actually brought her here.
"Is something wrong?”
She took a dramatic pause, moving to sit in the chair Caleb sat on when she came in. Her face didn't give away what she was going to say, so I patiently waited for her to start talking.
"Allie's going to mate with Alpha Declan.”
My head snapped to her faster than a lightning bolt. Several questions went on in my head at once. That was the last thing I was expecting her to say .
“He's her mate?" I asked, my voice faltered in surprise.
It doesn't make any sense that they would be mates, and I remember that he'd lost his mate. But they have to have met for it to be possible that she was his second chance mate. But even that didn't sit well with me. I didn't want my sister to be mated to a man like him.
Kaia shook her head, and my brows furrowed, “then why the fuck is she getting mated to him?"
