Dear Ex-wife Marry Me novel (Maja) novel Chapter 1296

Ian had never been so meticulous in taking care of someone. He washed every inch of her skin until it was clean, then used a towel to wipe her body once more, before picking her up and placing her on the bed.

He even thoughtfully wrapped her hair up, so it remained dry.

Ian stayed at the bedside, not daring to take a single step away, his gaze fixed on her face.

It was as if he couldn't get enough of looking at her.

His fingertips gently intertwined with hers, and he lay there by the bed, never moving to lie down on it himself.

Maja woke up at seven in the morning the next day. She opened her eyes, her throat feeling hoarse.

"Ian, what time is it?"

A cup of lukewarm water was immediately handed to her. She caught a whiff of his scent and felt instantly at ease.

"What time is it?"

"It's seven in the morning."

"How did I fall asleep last night? I remember lots of people talking."

"Phelps prescribed you some medicine."

Maja had already forgotten what she had heard last night. Her mind had been foggy, and she couldn't remember anything clearly.

But now, she felt in great physical condition, clear-headed and refreshed.

"What kind of medicine was it? I feel much better today. I've been feeling light-headed and have been having strange hallucinations these past few days. But now, I can feel you by my side for real, and it feels so good."

As she said this, her face was full of smiles, and she reached out to grab his hand.

Ian pressed his lips, slowly pulling her into his embrace.

"Yeah."

"It would be so nice if we could always be like this."

Perhaps because she was feeling physically comfortable, her smile became even more genuine.

Ian didn't say anything and just held her quietly, looking into the distance.

His silence made Maja uneasy.

"What's wrong? Did something happen?"

"No, I was just thinking about what to make you for breakfast. I'll cook it myself."

When she thought of him cooking, Maja remembered the knife she had stabbed him with and instantly felt regret.

"Let me see your wound."

She reached to pull up his shirt, but Ian grabbed her fingers, holding them tightly as if she would disappear the next second.

Maja found it incredibly sweet, and she smiled.

"Maja, I’m fine. It wasn't a deep cut. I'll take you downstairs. I'll cook, and you can sit in the living room, listening to the TV, okay? I'll have Coco and Rocky come keep you company."

"Okay."

She agreed quickly, clearly missing Coco too.

When they got downstairs, she took a seat on the couch. Not far away, she heard the sound of a dog barking, followed by something tugging at her pant leg.

It was Coco.

She bent down to pet it, hearing Ian say, "I'm going to the kitchen to cook some porridge and stir-fry a few dishes."
