Dear Ex-wife Marry Me novel (Maja) novel Chapter 1298

Belinda seized Zoey with a swift gesture, tearing off the scarf from her neck.

Having a rough night, Zoey had overslept this morning. She had spent the night at a man's place and had forgotten to set her alarm. By the time she was notified that Belinda was causing a scene at the office, she was late.

The large marks on her neck were instantly exposed as Belinda yanked down her blouse for everyone to see more clearly.

"Do you see this? This shameless woman hasn't shown up for work because she's been entertaining men. Who knows how many there have been? These marks are their handiwork. Disgusting, right? I couldn't bear it any longer and had to report her today. Take a good look, everyone. Do you want to work with someone who might bring disease into the office?"

"Mom!"

Zoey was feeling under the weather, having just started her period this morning. She had no energy to pull her blouse back up and got another slap from Belinda.

Belinda, who had worked as a mover in her youth, was tough. Zoey, already feeling weak, couldn't evade the slap.

The people from the top floor, after seeing the marks on Zoey, couldn't hide their shock.

Everyone began to believe Belinda's words. After all, where else could those marks have come from?

But they hadn't heard of Zoey having a boyfriend. Just a few days ago, when a male colleague had expressed interest in her, she had claimed to be single.

The marks on her body, however, told a different story about her wild night.

And to think that Zoey usually put on a demure air at the office. The contrast was shocking.

Whispers filled the room. Meanwhile, Maja, who was blind, had no idea what was happening. She had only heard Belinda slap Zoey.

She leaned back against Ian, whispering, "What's going on?"

Why were the people suddenly whispering, and why did it seem like they were all talking about Zoey? Could Zoey have really done something so scandalous?

Impossible.

"There are marks on her body from sleeping with a man."

Ian answered bluntly while Belinda continued her tirade.

She called Zoey all sorts of unflattering names, a loose woman, a shameless hussy.

"Shut up!"

Maja was livid and called her bodyguard over.

Belinda only became more smug, especially with Zoey present. She knew Zoey would side with her.

"Zoey, tell your boss the truth. Everything I've said is true. Besides, I'm your mother. If you let the bodyguard kick me out, don't ever call me again or send me money. Don't even think about coming home."

This was Zoey's weak spot.

She was a woman with no one to rely on. Only the monthly phone call and money transfer to her mother proved she had someone to care for in this world. This had been her solace for years.
