Neil couldn’t stand Leo, not after he ran off with a client’s hefty sum, almost causing the Penny feather family to lose a big deal. 

Neil was swamped back then, dealing with the mess Leo left behind 

He had kindly helped his ex–wife’s kid brother, not expecting it to backfire this much! 

It was bad enough that Maja and Daly were hanging out, now she was mixing with Leo, he was just disappointed. 

Maja was at a loss for words, and she wasn’t good at lying to Neil

Now that Neil knew, the chances of her borrowing money were slim. 

Even though he was her father, Maja found it hard to talk about money 

Thinking about Neil’s liver cancer, she felt helpless. 

“Dad I didn’t go to the party that day, not because of Leo. lan got hurt, so I took him to the hospital. He didn’t go either.” 

Neil squinted he hadn’t heard that lan was absent that night. 

Maja wouldn’t lie about this

He let out a sigh of relief, feeling much better. 

“As long as it wasn’t because of Leo, I thought you couldn’t tell right from wrong. You should stay away from the Dalys. Olivia is no good either.” 

Maja agreed wholeheartedly. 

But the $8 million was the most important thing. 

Neil seemed to be in a good mood now, maybe she could ask to buy lan a gift as compensation, he might agree. 

Before Maja could say anything, Neil’s phone rang. 

He looked at the number, an expression of disgust flashed across his eyes, but he answered anyway. 

“What’s up?” 

It was Susan on the other end, it took her a while to get to the point. 

“Neil, I know you’re still upset about what happened back then, but I’m desperate. Oli smashed someone’s fancy car, they’re demanding $8 million. Even though Maja told me not to worry, I can’t help but feel uneasy. I know you’re rich, could you lend me the money until I sell my house.” 

Neil was so furious his heart was pounding, he started coughing violently. 

“$8 million?! Maja told you not to worry?! Did she also say she would pay the $8 million, where would she get that kind of money?! Susan, this is Olivia’s mess, don’t expect me to help!” 

Susan’s voice was hoarse, but before she could finish, Neil hung up the phone. 

Neil scoffed, looking at Maja. 

Maja frowned, she probably knew who just called. 

She felt frustrated, she had already told Susan that Olivia would be out in a few days and she would take care of the rest. 

But Susan and Daly had always pampered Olivia, they couldn’t bear to see her suffer, so in their desperation, they called Neil. Totally unnecessary.
