Dear Ex-wife Marry Me novel (Maja) novel Chapter 1341

Mr. K gently pushed her away, his voice even-keeled despite the situation.

"Running a fever?" he asked.

"Yeah," she whispered.

"Let me help you downstairs. You can rest on the couch while I get someone to fetch you some medication."

She nodded, leaning into him almost instinctively as he helped her move.

Maja was simply trying to get a clearer picture of this enigmatic man. There was something both familiar and strange about Mr. K, a sensation she could never quite grasp. Unaware of her own actions, she was almost cuddling up to him.

Mr. K's fingers twitched slightly and he eased her away, supporting her as they made their way down the stairs.

He instructed Agent 003 to get the medicine.

Maja took the opportunity to request, "Could I also get a couple of sleeping pills? I've been having trouble sleeping lately. But please, nothing with barbiturates—I have a severe allergy, I could literally suffocate."

Her cheeks were flushed with fever, making her look incredibly frail. Mr. K didn't refuse.

His palm rested on her forehead, confirming the severity of her fever, and he continued his instructions to Agent 003.

"Sleeping pills, two of them."

003 nodded and hurried off, but no one noticed Agent 002 following closely behind.

002 had heard it all. Maja was allergic to barbiturates—a few extra sleeping pills in her dose, and wouldn't the darling suffer an allergic reaction?

It would serve her right!

002 seethed with resentment. She had to get even for the loss of her legs.

On her way back with the medicine, 003 was shoved by 002 and tumbled to the ground. Seeing 002's clenched fists and furious expression, she attempted to reason with her.

"002, I know you're angry I cut your hamstring, but I was following the boss's orders. I had no choice."

The pills were scattered all over the floor.

002, confined to her wheelchair, kindly bent over to help pick them up, slipping a few extra sleeping pills into the paper bag.

003, having already sorted the medicine, didn't bother to double-check the contents of each packet.

Grateful for the help, 003 said, "Looks like you've come around. I'll go give these to Ms. Pennyfeather now."

002 nodded, her eyes filled with malice as she watched 003 walk away.

When Maja received the medicine, she took the fever reducers immediately and tucked the paper bag with the sleeping pills into her pocket without a second glance.
