After she got in the car, she sat into the driver’s seat. 

Her wound was still throbbing a bit, but it was pretty much healed 

The inside of the car was so quiet it was suffocating, neither of them said a word 

Maja didn’t step on the gas nght away, but glanced at lan through the rear view mirror 

Should they go to Rosewood Manor, or the Raymond family, or maybe to a hotel? 

She couldn’t figure it out. 

“Here’s your phone” 

She handed lan his phone 

Taking the phone, lan saw two new messages and his brows furrowed slightly. 

Maja didn’t pay attention to whether he had read the messages, but she felt that lan’s mood seemed to have taken a nosedive. 

It was like she could sense his imitation before they even had a chance to chat 

Normally, lan was always calm but a single text from Carlene was enough to trigger his emotions. 

Maja couldn’t help but sigh, his feelings for Carlene really ran deep. 

“The Raymond family” 

He tossed his phone aside without replying to the messages. 

Maja didn’t ask any further. Just as she was about to drive to the Raymond family, her own phone rang. It was Maria on the line. 

“Ms Pennyfeather, Holden suddenly showed up at Rosewood Manor. He wants you and Mr. Raymond to hurry back.” 

Maja was glad she hadn’t turned on the speakerphone. Her eyes widened with surprise at the news. 

Grandpa Holden was at Rosewood Manor! 

She glanced at lan again through the rear–view mirror. 

Tan’s phone rang again, and Maja guessed it was probably Grandpa Holden himself. 

Sure enough, Ian saw the caller ID and his mood went from bad to worse. 

“Grandpa” 

“Tan I’m at Rosewood Manor. Didn’t you hurt your hand? I thought I’d come and see you.” 

“Grandpa, I’m on my way to an emergency meeting at the Raymond family. I might be back late.” 

No rush, I’ll wait for you.” 

After Grandpa Holden hung up, Maria also ended the call. 

Grandpa Holden was all smiles. It was his first time visiting their home and he was in a good mood. He even went upstairs to check the master bedroom. But all he found there were a few of his suits. 

He opened the wardrobe and was puzzled. 

The wardrobe was too neat for two people living together. 

“Doesn’t Maja usually stay here?” 

Mana was on Grandpa Holden’s side, but because Maja had previously instructed her, she told a little white lie. 

Ms. Pennyfeather has been really busy lately and hardly comes back. Sometimes, to avoid disturbing Mr. Raymond, she stays in another room.” 

“Show me.” 

But Maja’s room was the furthest from the master bedroom. This was Ms. Casson’s idea. If he found out, his suspicions might grow. 

But having already told one lie, Maria didn’t dare to tell another and reluctantly led him to Maja’s room. 

This room had a much more lived–in feel than the master bedroom. 

Since it was Maja’s room, Holden Raymond didn’t want to pry too much. He just took a quick look around and saw that the room was fully furnished. 

The master bedroom looked more like a temporary hotel room. 

The two rooms were far apart. He wasn’t a fool and his face immediately turned cold.
