Dear Ex-wife Marry Me novel (Maja) novel Chapter 1494

The maid led him to the restroom while Ralap continued to negotiate with Timothy.

As Ian rounded a corner, he overheard two other maids gossiping.

"She thinks she's all that, hasn't eaten all day. Let her starve."

"Mr. Patric's lab is conveniently right next door to her room. What, are they an item?"

"Pfft, she's just one of those girls who'll hop into bed with any guy. When she arrived, Mr. Patric was carrying her in his arms, the shameless thing."

In this place, a woman's status was pitifully low. For a woman, to be invited to a social gathering was a rare honor.

To be openly carried in a man's arms was a fantasy too bold to even dream of.

These women were thoroughly domesticated, and they naturally saw Maja as an enemy.

Ian asked the maid who led the way for him.

"Have the Bradshaws had any visitors?"

"Yes, Mr. Patric is here. The master of the house insists on treating him as an honored guest. He's brought a woman with him."

A man and a woman—it had to be Patric and Maja.

After returning from the restroom, Ian still stood behind Ralap.

It was clear Ralap hadn't persuaded Timothy, who insisted on waiting another month to decide.

The old man left in a huff, with a storm cloud of displeasure on his face.

Ian, nevertheless, was invited to stay. His standing was well-regarded among the four great families.

Timothy was exceedingly polite to him.

"Sir, I've had a room prepared for you."

Ian nodded and followed the maid to the so-called room.

When night fell and everyone was asleep, he pretended to go for a stroll.

He paused as he passed by a room with its windows sealed shut.

The windows had small holes, but they were blocked and wouldn't budge.

Peering inside, he saw the curtains half-drawn and a person clearly lying on the bed.

He stood there a long while until the person in the bed finally stirred.

The first thing Maja did upon waking was rush to the bathroom to vomit.

Ever since Patric had forced that unknown drug on her, her stomach had been in knots.
