Maja had always been puzzled by Tricia’s attitude towards her. While they seemed to get along on the surface, Tricia always seemed to take pleasure in ticking her off in front of Neil.

“Maja, the second round of financing was a success. The Raymond family has invested more money. I want to celebrate by inviting lan over for dinner at our house. We should thank them properly.” 

-Despite his polite words, he just wanted to continue to cozy up to the Raymond family. 

The thought made Maja feel sick but helpless. 

“Dad, who let you out of the hospital?“. 

“I wanted to leave, Maja. Don’t worry about me.” 

Neil’s face was full of relief. The successful financing had brought him great joy. 

“The company’s valuation has doubled, and there will be more opportunities for cooperation in the future. Let’s invite lan over the day after tomorrow. We haven’t seen him since he returned home.”

Maja hung up; her brow furrowed deeply. 

By now, she had gotten out of the car. She turned to thank lan, but he was focused on some documents, looking calm and composed. 

She owed lan so much and didn’t know how to repay him. 

“Mr. Raymond, thanks for tonight.” 

lan’s lips moved slightly; he gave a light “hmm” and then instructed the driver to start the car. 

The driver glanced at him in the rear–view mirror and stepped on the gas. 

lan glanced at Maja through the rear–view mirror when the car had driven away. 

Apparently sober, she was still standing there, walking towards the hospital alone.
