Dear Ex-wife Marry Me novel (Maja) novel Chapter 1623

Standing by her side, the woman seemed to see through her thought, and gave her shoulder a reassuring pat.

"I want to join you. I got word of my brother's whereabouts there, and I'm certain he's in that place."

But at that moment, one of Ian's men intervened.

"Ms. Pennyfeather, the boss wants you to stay put for now."

No sooner had he spoken than his phone began to blare with an urgent call. His pupils contracted sharply, and he immediately got in touch with the North American underground combat pit, as well as the Moore, Sanders, and even the Olson families.

Maja noticed the change in his expression and quickly grabbed his sleeve.

"What is it? Is there news about Ian?"

"Yes. The research base where the boss is, it's right at the epicenter of the earthquake. We need all hands on deck to help. There’s not just the quake and landslides; it seems they're under attack too. Ms. Pennyfeather, I need to go assist. Please, stay safe at the hotel."

But Maja couldn't stand the thought of waiting idly. As she watched the group pile into their vehicles and drive off, she turned to the woman beside her, "We'll take a motorcycle there."

The woman's gaze, however, lingered on Maja's stomach. Maja was naturally slender, and at two months pregnant, she wasn't showing yet. But being pregnant meant she wasn't like everyone else.

She hurried down the steps, urgency in her voice, "I'm fine; I have to see for myself, or I won't have peace of mind."

The woman hurried after her, "If you're set on going, I’ll protect you."

Maja glanced back at her, "By the way, I never got your name."

"No name. After being thrown into the combat pit and making it out, I just got hired on. My parents called me Nana."

"Nana?"

"Yeah."
