The next second, Zoey burst into a coughing fit, spattering blood onto his crisp white shirt.
His face turned dark as thunder, and with one swift motion, he shoved her aside.
Zoey stumbled, clutching at her stomach as waves of searing pain threatened to overwhelm her. Her fingers clung desperately to the bed-sheets beneath her, as if she was holding on to consciousness itself.
Fitch eyed the crimson stain spreading on his shirt.
A knock came from the door at that moment.
“Mr. Haskins, Miss Mia has been crying non-stop.”
He inhaled deeply and peeled off the bloodied shirt; as he was about to pick a clean one from the wardrobe, he heard her plea, “Just get it over with, will you?”
What did she expect? To be force-fed chili until she got stomach cancer?
If he really wanted her dead, a packet of rat poison would do the job.
“You want it over with?”
Slipping into a fresh shirt, he adjusted the cool metal of his watch around his wrist.
It was nine in the evening.
“Go outside and kneel. Once Mia calms down, I’ll let you back in.”
Zoey’s grip loosened on the sheets as she heard his command.
With his back to her, Fitch moved towards the door, reaching for the handle.
But then she called out, “Fitch.”
His steps halted; with a frown creasing his brow, he felt irritation rising within him.
He quickened his pace, stepping out and closing the door behind him.
Zoey, left behind, watched the door shut; her eyelashes cast long shadows as she curled up on the bed, with pain engulfing her.
Downstairs, Fitch found Mia on the couch, who did not throw a tantrum but instead reached for a knife, threatening to slash her own throat.
The bodyguard tried to intervene, but she swung wildly through the air.
“Don’t touch me!”

Author, would you story about Ryan settling down and another story on Eric regaining his body and memories back from Patrick, and Eric also settling down as I find it so disheartening for him to have gone through what he went through at the research institute, and I'll like for him to get his "golden boy" life back though, not at the detriment of Ian....
When will the author update to finish Beck's story? What about Dylan and Tyler's love lives? Also, I'll like the author to write on Wilma and Elvis ending up together as she was quite persistent in pursuing him. And Shawn's story, Cornelia Sullivan and Omar Casson. Also, a little write-up on Jeff (Ian's assistant) love life, too. Thanks, author for updating....
