Dear Ex-wife Marry Me novel (Maja) novel Chapter 1738

After leaving the place, Carol hummed a tune as she headed back to her Maserati.

There had been a whirlwind of events in Greenfield recently. Ian had gone abroad, and Maja was about to leave as well.

Carol hadn't shared much about her own affairs with Maja, knowing her friend had plenty on her plate.

She figured that once she got married, she'd just send Maja an invitation, which would surely give her the surprise of her life.

There was a thrilling sense of accomplishment in doing big things quietly, and Carol couldn't help but smile.

She had already thought about marrying Felix. As soon as her father gave his blessing, she'd rush to try on wedding gowns!

But while Carol was still lost in daydreams of matrimony, she had just returned to her villa when she received a call from Abner's assistant.

"Ms. Miller, the president has been hospitalized. You should come."

Carol felt a tremor in her heart. Abner had always been in good health; how could he suddenly be hospitalized?

Without a moment's delay, she sped off to the hospital.

Abner had just been brought out of the emergency room, looking pale and frail. Tears welled up in Carol's eyes as she reached out to hold his hand.

"Dad, what happened?"

Abner coughed twice and glared at her.

"What's with the tears? It's not like I'm on my deathbed."

"Don't talk like that, Dad. You're supposed to live a long, healthy life!"

Carol rubbed her eyes fiercely.

"Is it because of my situation with Felix? Have you been worrying yourself sick over us? I'm so sorry, Dad. Maybe you really should find a younger woman and have another son."

At that, Abner's coughing grew worse. The assistant hurriedly interjected, "Ms. Miller, maybe you should hold back on the comments."

Carol clapped a hand over her mouth, looking cautiously at Abner.

"Dad, I feel so guilty, truly."

"Carol, what if my health really doesn't hold up and I insist you break up with Felix?"

"I would break it off without hesitation, but I doubt I'd ever be happy again."

Abner's furrowed brow relaxed slightly, and a faint smile crept across his lips, "At least I haven't raised you for nothing."
