Yolanda's voice carried a tinge of despondency.

Hearing her, Carol's heart sank even further.

She had always been close with this cousin, and this time, the Miller family's troubles, with her uncle playing a significant role in them, couldn't ultimately drive a wedge between her and Yolanda.

"Yolanda, Uncle's talking about having a son out there. You know anything about that?"

Instant silence on the line told Carol the issue was more complicated than it seemed.

"Yolanda?"

"Sis, let's not get into this. I'll handle it, okay? Maybe we should keep our distance for a while. I appreciate everything you've done, but Felix has been sending me warnings. I gotta hang up now."

Carol was anxious, but the call had been cut.

She tried redialing, only to find out she'd been blocked. Had Yolanda blocked her?
