As he glanced over at the groomsmen's area, he noticed Nathan's absence, which caused his brow to furrow slightly.

He was about to call Nathan—where could he possibly be at a critical time like this?—but then his phone rang. With a hint of cheer in his voice, he answered.

"Mr. Brown, it appears Ms. Miller has taken a runner from the wedding."

His initially upturned lips instantly drooped, and his eyes darkened.

"What about the car?"

"We're in pursuit, but suddenly there's a slew of trucks on the road blocking us, and we've lost track of Mrs. Brown," the voice on the other end explained.

Felix yanked off his tie, hopped into the wedding limo parked beside him, and floored the accelerator, speeding away in an instant.

Outside, the guests who had been waiting were exchanging puzzled looks, clueless about what had just happened. But they knew something was up when Felix drove off like a bat out of hell.

Thankfully, the master of ceremonies was a pro; he ushered the guests into the hotel to wait.

Felix pushed the pedal to the metal and flicked on the GPS tracker, which showed a red dot moving away towards Greenfield.

He quickly shared the location with his crew and kept his bloodshot eyes on the road ahead. For a moment, nothing else existed in his mind but the need for speed.

Then a helicopter appeared in the sky. Drawing a deep breath, he abandoned the limo and signaled the chopper to pick him up.

His sharp suit was now a mess, but he didn't care. Once aboard the helicopter, his gaze was fixed on the red dot shown on his phone.

The bracelet he had given Carol had a tracking device installed, and he knew it would come in handy one day—just not this soon.

It was obvious Carol wanted out. She was planning to leave eventually.
