Dear Ex-wife Marry Me novel (Maja) novel Chapter 1937

Just after Zoey grabbed the marriage certificate, Nolan noticed from a distance.

“Hey, Teach.”

He called out, his eyes landing on the certificate in her hands. Zoey felt a wave of embarrassment as if she had been caught red-handed, and quickly tucked the certificate away.

“Yeah, what's up?”

“You, wanna see?”

In front of the kid, she of course couldn't admit it, quickly shaking her head.

“No, haha, I just bumped into it, didn't I?”

She vaguely remembered hearing from the staff that Nolan had been without a mom since birth, guessing he wouldn't want to delve into that topic.

“Nolan, finished with your book? Want me to find you another?”

Before she could finish speaking, Nolan approached, his height not quite reaching the shelf with the two marriage certificates, so he dragged over a little stool. Stepping on it, he took out the certificate.

“Look, it’s okay.”

Perhaps it was the earnestness in the kid's eyes that made Zoey feel her initial curiosity was downright shameful.

“No need, I don't want to look.”

She took the certificate back, placed it away, and closed the cabinet. This was Fitch's room, and her snooping around was definitely out of line.

She lifted Nolan up, “How about we switch to a cooperative game today?”

Nolan looked down, seemingly a bit disheartened. Zoey wasn't sure why he suddenly felt down, probably because of the marriage certificate, which had his mom's photo on it. She felt even more guilty for touching it.

“Nolan, let's play a survival coop game. We have to hunt and farm, or we'll starve. I'll show you how, okay?”
