Maureen caught up with lan as he stepped out of the Raymond family’s gate, letting out a long sigh. 

“lan, I didn’t expect your grandpa to be that mad. I’m really sorry.” 

“Maureen, it’s not your fault. Penny and I got ourselves into this.” 

Mentioning Penny always seemed to rub Maureen the wrong way. 

“Don’t think I’m butting in. Now that you’ve paid the price, you should cut ties with her. Otherwise, your grandpa might blow a bigger gasket and she might get caught in the crossfire.” 

“I can handle my own business.” 

Maureen bit her tongue, knowing that another word might rub lan the wrong way 

lan got into his car. His back was hurting a lot, so he didn’t lean back against the seat 

It was a real pain in the neck, making it hard for him to bear. 

Just then, Maja called. 

“Mr. Raymond, I’m at the hotel. Are you coming back tonight?” 

lan’s hands gripped the steering wheel tight. He was sweating bullets and his lips turned a bit pale. 

“Yeah.” 

His tone was icy, then he hung up. 

Maja waited for him in the hallway outside the hotel room, feeling at ease. 

Ten minutes later, lan showed up at the elevator. Seeing him, Maja breathed a sigh of relief. She nodded at him and got down to brass tacks. “Mr. Raymond, I want to talk about Ms. Raymond” 

lan walked up to her, not looking at her but taking the room key and swiping the door open. 

Maja had no choice but to follow him into the room. She smelled something fishy, and her brow furrowed slightly. 

Shouldn’t lan’s wounds have healed by now? Why the bloody smell? 

lan entered the room, thinking of taking off his coat, but with Maja there, he thought better of it and sat down on the couch. “My auntie canceled your order?” 

It seemed he still remembered last night. Just not sure if he remembered the kiss. 

Maja didn’t make a fuss about that. She just worried he might think she kissed him on purpose when he was plastered. 

But since lan didn’t bring it up, she didn’t feel right asking. 

“Yep.” 

“How much did the studio suffer?” 

Maja felt a warm feeling inside. She didn’t expect him to be concerned about the studio. 

*Could be worse. It’s just that I’m not the most popular person there, so the designers who were affected have some beef with me.” 

‘I’ll have a word with my auntie about this. As for your misunderstanding with her, she won’t bother you anymore.”

Maja felt a bit relieved, “Alright, thanks, Mr. Raymond. I’ll get back in touch with the suppliers.” 

A grin danced on her lips, her eyes sparkling with laughter. 

lan took a glance at her and didn’t say another word. 

The room was quiet, the atmosphere becoming a bit awkward. 

Just the two of them in a room, filling the air with a sense of ambiguity. 

Maja felt the vibe was a bit off, so she got up ready to leave. 

“Mr. Raymond, I’ll get going then…” 

Before she could finish, Jeff’s voice came from the door. 

“Boss, are you alright?” 

Jeff was holding a first–aid kit, obviously responding to lan’s call. 

Maja stopped what she was doing and turned to lan. He’s injured? 

A closer look showed some sweat on his forehead, his face a bit pale. 

Jeff didn’t expect Maja to be there. Thinking for a bit, he put down the first–aid kit.

“Since you’re here, could you do me a favor and help the boss with his wounds? You’re much more careful than I am.” 

Maja felt indebted to lan, so she couldn’t say no.
